When you connect your TomTom to your computer (USB port) ... you can use the TomTom HOME software to check the updates available for your GPS.
This assumes you've (previously) registered your GPS on the TomTom website, and you have TomTom HOME installed on your computer.
If not, register your TomTom on the TomTom website (identify it with your email address), and install the TomTom HOME software on your computer.
Then when you connect your GPS device to your computer, the TomTom HOME software should start up (or you can start it up), and you can log into your TomTom account ... and the HOME software will automatically search and let you know if / what updates are available for your GPS.
Every brand of GPS devices, will offer updates for their sat nav's.
Some brands offer a "life time" free update, some only offer new maps when you pay. Not knowing what brand and or model I can't tell you how and where you can buy or get new maps for your device.
First of all, you need to have the touchmate gps device software on your computer. Once there is a new map update, the software will notify you as soon as you connect your gps device to the pc. Therefore, to update your device that is where you get the latest update from. When you bought your device, there is an installation disc that came with it, that is the disc to install the software from, once you have installed it, just connect your device to your computer and if there is an update for your device the software will notify you and give you the steps to update your maps.
Hope this information was helpful to you. Thank you for using fixya.
The pictures that displays on your screen is a message asking you to get your system connected to a computer, then you either update the software, download a new software for it or you update your current software.
Try to reset your gps first before you connect it to a computer. To reset your gps device, you need to hold the power off/on button for about 15 seconds, then it will restart itself, then it will load normally. If it does the same thing, then you need to connect it to a computer and download a new software for your device.
I hope this information was helpful.

If your SkyGolf came with software, you should install it first. If you installed it and it does not work, go to the software and check for updates. If that fails to work, UNINSTALL the program, and re-install it. Make sure you DO NOT connect the device to the computer until the software is fully installed. Check for updates after installation, and the reboot. Then attach your device to the computer, and it should recognize it.
