By now you have probably stumbled on another post telling you how to do this, but just in case........

If the vac is not unplugged, do that before starting to avoid any nasty repercussions !

To open the canister there are two rubber bumpers on the sides, peel them off. Under these you will see two plastic strips - open the front of the canister (where the bag goes in) and you will see that these plastic strips are able to slide out of the tracks. Now the tricky part is to get them to move - personally on mine, i took a flat head screw driver and a hammer and "GENTLY" tapped the back end of them (where the cord is), once you get past the "shim" part that keeps them in, they should slide out easily, but keep the vac flat while you do this. Do it for both sides. After this is done, the top comes off. It will rock over to one side, if the bag area is to your right then it will come up and off to the opposite side - careful there are wires for the switch etc under there.

Good luck I hope this helped - I've had mine apart more times than any sane person should - great vac tho !

Please elaborate on the problem and if it truly is a short circuit in the canister .. unplug it and provide the model number so that I can help you find the short to repair it.. Have you attempted to open the canister up and look for some evidence of the short ( carbon or burnt wire etc)? Remember to always unplug it before attempting any troubleshooting...

I bought a townhouse with an Electrolux 1561 built in vacuum cleaner. The previous owner didn't leave any instruction manual. It also doesn't seem to be wired correctly as it has to be plugged in...

I don't have an instruction manual, but if the vacuum is running continuously when plugged in you may have a bad relay.

I have a similiar problem, but LED light does not flash. I have determined it is a short in the hose wire. THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR THIS MODEL OF ELECTROLUX. I'll never buy another Electrolux product.

Vacuum starts up on its own. The only way to stop it is to unplug it, why is this happening?

The motor can only be switched on this way for 2 reasons. The circuit board inside the canister is bad or somewhere in the wiring in the house or in an outlet, a connection has been made in the low volt wiring, triggering the relay on the circuit board. If you unplug the low volt wiring from the canister and the problem goes away, then the problem is in the house, if the vac still turns on when the low volt wiring is disconnected then the problem is the circuit board inside the vac.

Electrolux vacuum power bar not turning

First thing is to push the circuit breaker button(reset button). If that dosen't work, check the belt. It could be broken.

Electrolux C104A does not turn on. won't start. No light on, no sound. Is there any fuse to be raplace and/or ?

The Renny is a hard machine to diagnose. You could have a broken wire in the cord or in the hose. There is a fuse wire located inside the canister that could be bad. Also, the handle circuit board2.gif could be bad or the triac (another circuit board) located inside the canister could be bad. There is no use for you to open the machine. You could do more damage than good.

Electrolux Canister - Stops working after 1-2...
Our vac works for a short time, then shuts off and makes clicking noise as if trying to restart again. Works after cooling for a while but for another very short time. Your suggestion on fix would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure
I would advise that it could be a thermal switch or a regular switch that the thermal switch is over heating and needs replacement – there are small hoses in the door section that could have been pinched or kinked and it stopping the air flow from the vacuum – also check for a clogged or plugged vacuum hose, a full vacuum bag or a dirty vacuum filter. Check the thermal switch or reg switch or the hoses in the door. Or feel free to contact your local vacuum dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or call the factory @ the phone number listed below:
