Hi Jutin Bako,
The heater is located inside the freezer behing the back panel. You will located the heater just underneath the coil. 90 % of the time when you have a frost problem it is the heater. To check it all you need to do is check for continuity through it. If the heater is good you will need to check the defrost timer. To check it simply turn the timer around until you hear a click, this will put the refrigerator into defrost and it should begin to melt the ice. Wait a few minutes and the refrigerator shoud start running again. If it never comes out of defrost then the timer is bad.. The timer will be located in the top section of the freshfood side near the light. You will see a small hole about 3/8th to 1/2 inch. Take a flat blade screwdriver and place it into the hole. You should be able to turn the timer clock wise untill you hear the click. This will put the refrigerator into defrost. . The following are the possible parts you will need.
defrost timer. #482493 price $20.00
heater #2176300 price $30.00
I hope this will fixYa. and pleast rate me.

Freezer ices up

Sounds like you have a defrost problem. The parts for your defrost cycle are.
1. Bimetal part# 4387503
2. Heater part# 2315531
3. Defrost timer Part# 482493

The heater and the bimetal is located in the freezer dept. behind the back wall. The defrost timer is located behind the cold control plate in the refrigerator department.

Every 3 weeks the freezer ices up on back wall and the fan isn't able to circulate the cool air. i defrost it and then the unit works perfectly for about three weeks and it happens again.

You have a problem with the automatic defrost system. It could be the defrost timer or defrost heater or termination theromstat. You woulld have to check them to see what part is bad. Hope this helped. I don't know if you have the knowledge or the tools to repair it yourself or if you need to call repair tech.

My Ammana Freezer is not defrosting. I need to figure out if it is the Defrost Thermostat Defrost Timer or the heating element. What should I do first?

in most cases its the defrost element as the other units last much longer unless the fan has become jammed this happens when people toss meat hard against the back wall if you know how to do polaity test using a multimeter do test on defrost element its not a thermistate as new age frezzers dont use them they use timers and plastic channels to curculate cool air

good luck need more addvice email me

Model number 106.64232400. the fridge is warm, large amount of ice in the freezer. moved items to help with the venting. how should i get rid of all of the ice build up???

If the ice is on the back wall, melt it with a hairdryer, then remove the back wall and drfrost the evaporator coils. You will now have a few days to fix your defrost system before it ices up again.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat.
In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Freezer is frozen and Refridgerator not cooling

It sounds like you have aproblem with the defrost cycle. Three parts make up defrost system in most refrigerators. The heating element, bimetal and defrost timer, these components need to be checked to determin which is bad. The heating element and bi metal are on the coil behind the freezer back wall, if you have someone who can use a volt ohm meter, with the food removed and refrigerator unplugged ck for resistance on the element if you get a measurment its good, the bimetal will give you a resistance measurment as long as its covered in ice. if these two check ok you may have a bad defrost timer. Id check the bimetal first, hope this helps.
