Question about Whirlpool ET8MTKX Top Freezer Refrigerator
BACK WALL OF THE FREEZER ICES UP AND THEN THE FREEZER IS JUST COOL.. COULD IT BE THE TIMER OR THE DEFROST ELEMENT -- IF SO HOW DO I CHECK THEM AND WHERE ARE THEY?? WHAT OTHER PROBLEMS CAN CAUSE THIS AND HOW DO I FIX THEM??/
Hi Jutin Bako,
The heater is located inside the freezer behing the back panel. You will located the heater just underneath the coil. 90 % of the time when you have a frost problem it is the heater. To check it all you need to do is check for continuity through it. If the heater is good you will need to check the defrost timer. To check it simply turn the timer around until you hear a click, this will put the refrigerator into defrost and it should begin to melt the ice. Wait a few minutes and the refrigerator shoud start running again. If it never comes out of defrost then the timer is bad.. The timer will be located in the top section of the freshfood side near the light. You will see a small hole about 3/8th to 1/2 inch. Take a flat blade screwdriver and place it into the hole. You should be able to turn the timer clock wise untill you hear the click. This will put the refrigerator into defrost. . The following are the possible parts you will need.
defrost timer. #482493 price $20.00
heater #2176300 price $30.00
I hope this will fixYa. and pleast rate me.
