Go to control panel>network connections. Right-click wireless network connection. Click wireless networks. Delete all the wireless networks that you under preferred networks. Then click view wireless networks. Reconnect to the network you have at home. Enter the password/network key if prompted. If you are unsure of the password and you havent changed it before, it should be the 10-digit code on the bottom of the router at&t provided.

If you dont see the wireless networks tab, go to start>run. type services.msc. look for wireless zero configuration and make sure it's automatic and started. Go to control panel>network connections. Right-click wireless network connection. Click wireless networks.and check the box 'Use windows to configure my wireless connection'.

Please give me step by step directions to get my netbook to hook up to hotel wi-fi. thank you

Please see the quick start guide that came with your Sylvania Netbook running Win CE 6. You will also find the same step-by-step directions at the www.digitalgadgets.com website. They also have a YouTube demo video.

Hint: double left click the "pc" with the )) that are red on the lower right task bar. Click the right tab, find the hotel wifi, select then click "connect" button if it prompts you for a "pass phrase" get it from the hotel front desk.

I have a Dell Inspiron Mini laptop. Do I need a sim card if I have Internet Service at home and a router? For Internet while away from home, do I need a sim card? (in a hotel with wireless service?)

no you dont you have wireless capability on your laptop. just turn on your wireless, click on it and it will show you all internet connections just click on your router name and it will connect. same when your away hotel will tell you their router name or (ssid) as its called.

hope this helps.

My employer gave me a Dell 6400 Latitude Laptop to use at home through a VPN connection. I have a plug in connection at home. How do I hook up my laptop at home?

Connect your ethernet cable from your Broadband modem into your laptop. Make sure you can browse webpages. Open the VPN software installed by your employer, and enter your login credentials assigned by your employer to authenicate. Once connected, you will have Network Access and Intranet Connections to your workplace. This will work from WiFi hotspots, hotels, Internet cafes, etc. If you do not yet have your VPN software installed, or have your credentials, speak to your employer as they may need to create and account and a certificate for your VPN connection.

Some laptops have a button to "disable" the wireless adapter.
Click START
Click Control Panel
Click Classic View
Click Network Connections
Check that the wireless adapter is "enabled".
Right-mouse-button click on the icon for the wireless adapter,
and then click "repair".

PC CARD WONT WORK

Sounds as though theres no power getting to the card if theres no light on it - the dell 6XX series has a weakness in the PCMCIA connector too - it can easily flex and seperate from the socket on the motherboard over time and especially in transit. I wouldnt suggest trying to fix it yourself but dell will send someone out to fix it if its under warranty or for a small fee if not. hope this helps

My laptop would not connect to wireless while I was away in a hotel

Open up you're network connections in you're notebook & run the wireless wizard. Search for you're home wireless network.
You should be able to connect to you're home. Remove any other networks you might find. While you're at it I suggest you setup security for you're home network with a password.

Let me know how it goes.
