Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

Leaking Duet Washer

Water is leaking at the right rear of our 13-month old Whirlpool washer. The leaking continues after I stop the washer with water in the tub. It isn't leaking out the door and it drained without any problem when I hit the stop button a second time. I'm assuming there is an internal leak and will need to call a repair service. Seems like leaks are not uncommon with these washers based on what I see on the internet

Thanks for the advice. Turned out to be a freak failure where the belt was installed incorrectly at the factory. The belt was riding on the pulley flange and partially separated. The broken part began swinging and hitting the vent tube. Eventually it wore a hole in the tube. Since the tube has water in with the washer is running, it leaked. Unfortunately, this item doesn't fail, so the part is back-ordered from Whirlpool. On the good side, Whirlpool is paying for it even though we're a month out of warranty - no arguments from customer service.

Hi there,

looks like you may have a pinched hose or the fitting is overtightened or not tightened enough. turn off the water supply and check the water inlet hose. you can usually tell if the fittings are stripped or not tight enough.

My washer leaks water all the time

If it is leaking all the time while running it could be the drain pump. A coin had made its way into mine and cracked the housing. Itis located towards the right rear of the machine on the bottom, while standing in front of the machine.

The problem is commonly caused by either a pressure switch malfunction, or a water inlet valve leaking by. The way you can tell is to leave the water turned on and unplug the washer. If the water continues to flow, the problem is the water inlet valve. If the water stops, the pressure switch.

To access either component, you need to remove the top panel of the washer. Locate the three screws that hold the top panel in place and remove. With the screws removed, the panel will slide back, then lift off. The water inlet valve will be loacted in the left rear of the washer (as viewed from the front). The pressure switch will be in the rear on the right.

To replace the water inlet valve, follow these steps:

1. UNPLUG the washer.

2. Turn off the water source and disconnect the fill hoses from the back of the washer.

3. With the top panel removed, disconnect the dispenser hose(s) and electrical connections to the valve.

4. Remove any mounting screws holding the valve in place and reinstall with a replacement valve.

The pressure switch is even easier. One connector plug and an air hose is the only thing attached to the switch. The switch is usually snapped in place along the interior cabinet wall with no screws holding it in place.

Replacement parts can be purchased on line at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

All these sites offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites on the list also include helpful exploded view diagrams of your washer to help with locating parts and assembly.

I hope I've given you enough ideas to work with in narrowing down the cause of your symptoms. This is generally a very simple repair, that isn't very expensive. If you have any questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Water leaked from bottom of washer

Check the pump right where the motor shaft goes into it. The pump seal can leak right there and the water drips directly onto the floor. It will continue to run out after the cycle till the remaining water drains out of the tub and drain hose.

My Whirlpool ultimate care is leaking under,I did check the hoses and they are okey. What could be the problem?.

Can you describe where the leak may becoming from? For example, near the front, from under the washer, or near the back.

If you notice a pool of water coming from under the washer near the FRONT, this is commonly caused by a leaking water pump. Since these pumps are sealed units and are considered non-serviceable, it must be replaced. They cannot be resealed or "fixed".

If the leak appears to be leaking from under the washer near the CENTER of the tub, either the tub seal is leaking or the air dome hose may have come loose. If the tub seal is leaking, it also must be replaced. If the air dome hose comes loose, however, the washer will never fill up all the way and will continuously run. This will cause a flood rather than a drip.

If the leak is coming from the REAR of the washer, this can be caused by cracked fill hoses, loose fill hose connections, a leaking drain hose, or a fill valve hose leaking.

Since you said you checked your hoses, I suspect a water pump, or something loose. Can you please confirm your symptoms and let me know?

My Whirlpool Duet Washer fills up 1/4 of the tub on its own.

Sounds like a defective fill valve leaking water in although the machine is off.
First turn off your water and remove the hoses. Clean the screens in the hoses and the fill valve.
If that does not correct the problem replace the fill valve.
