SOURCE: No Picture with Cable Connection
Most likely the tuner is damaged inside of the TV itself, possible from moving the tv or pressing the connector too hard. An easy fix for anyone who has the slightest bit of skill with a soldering iron. You may also go into your menu and make sure that you are using the right system for cable....ie pal or ntse

SOURCE: No Sound
Maybe a vacant channel or input is tuned.
• If watching VCR (connected only through antenna input), make sure TV is tuned to channel 3 or 4 – same as CH3/4
switch on VCR. Also check to make sure the TV/VCR button on the VCR is in the correct “mode.”
• Simultaneously press the POWER and CHANNEL DOWN buttons on the front panel to reset the TV.
HOPE THIS WILL HELP YOU.. GOODLUCK

RCA HAD A CERTAIN MODEL SERIES THAT HAD A REALLY BAD DESIGN,,IT SEEMS THAT SOLDER CONNECTIONS STARTED BREAKING LOOSE AND DEPENDING WHERE THEY CAME LOOSE,,YOU WOULD HAVE PROBLEMS IN THAT CERTAIN CIRCUIT..TO DETERMINE IF YOU HAS THAT SERIES,,WE WOULD NEED THE CHASSIS # ON THE BACK...
IF THE CONNECTIONS CAME LOOSE IN THE VERTICAL CIRCUIT--THE PICTURE WOULD CLOSE UP ,,IF IN THE TUNER SECTION--YOU WOULD LOOSE CHANNELS ,,IF IT WAS IN THE AUDIO SECTION--YOU WOULD GET CRACKLYN SOUND OR NO SOUND
ONE THING YOU CAN TRY--PUT IT BACK IN THE TV MODE,,GENTLY TAP ON THE CABLE CONNECTOR IN THE BACK OF THE SET AND SEE IF IT CLEARS UP,,IF SO YOU HAVE THE CONNECTION ISSUE--WILL NEED A TECH..GOOD LUCK ..TUNICA

You either have a bad CRT or a Shorted Red Output IC/Transistor. One other possibility is if
someone turned the Screen Control down if it is accessible from the back of the set.
Hope this helps,

If you`re talking about colored spots in the screen, then you may have a degauss problem. It was frequent for those sets to have bad solder joint on the degaussing coil connector or thermistor next to it.If you`re handy with a soldering iron these connections would be near the a.c line input. good luck and don`t forget to unplug
