The ancient tape is junk. Buy a new one. You might also try slamming the old tape against a wall or desk to loosen up the tape layers. Then FF and RW all the way.
something maybe broken on the inside for it to say play but fast forward. the botton could be stuck as well. maybe open the vcr and clean it all up in side. that might help
It is possible the tape loaded on the wrong side of the drive. If you romove the tape, look for slack and tighten up, try it again or another tape. Otherwise it is likely that a spring for the pressure roller is off or broken. This is not easially repairable.
Hi, Does the tape move when you press rewind or fast forward. If the tape moves for a few seconds then bleeps it sound like a sensor problem. If it only bleeps when the rewind and fast forward are pressed and the play is ok it sounds like the actuator motor is faulty, this motor enables the rewind and fast forward. Hope this helps.
Is this a standard-size cassette unit? Is the model number a 2740 or 2750? When you first plug the power in, does the machine make two clicking noises? Does the display show 'CAS' or 'No Cassette'?
Just talked to Exec. Communication Systems. He said that the play motor is not turning (the rewind and fast forward uses a separate motor) and the problem is either the belt or the motor. They can repair them at $82.00 plus parts and shipping.
