How to get a hard drive work again wen it been wiped

I have some suggestions for you. It's possible that your hard drive is failing. Run Diagnostics and check your hard drive. Upon boot, press F12 rapidly (or could be F2) and choose the Diagnostics.

Another suggestion is to use System Restore, in the event that your operating system file(s) is problematic. Again, boot your system to Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly when powering on). Go to System Restore and choose a date when your system worked OK. Note: with System Restore, all your updates will roll back to that date. Follow the process.

The reason XP cannot detect the hard drive is because thr hard drive in this model HP is a SATA hard drive and the Windows XP installation CD does not have the SATA controllers on this CD.

As your message suggested, you have a hardware fault which means your camera is possibly faulty.
I would book it into a repair shop and get it fixed.

Laptop's keyboard is not user-serviceable. Proceed to you repair shop and have then repair yours.

A clue is in the error message you get "hard drive failure" this means the hard drive which holds the operating system is corrupt and will not allow a reinstall, you have to purchase a new hard drive before you can reinstall the operating system and then you'll be good to go.
If the laptop is still covered my the manufacturers warranty i recommend you take advantage of that and send it in for repair, if its out of warranty you'll be able to get one from any reputable PC store.

Have you replaced this DVDdrive with a working one and does this work if this works you will no that this si a hardware issue. are you using windows vista or windows xp

Take the battery out and only have the adaptor hooked up to the laptop, then try to a fresh install of Windows XP and see if it goes thru. If it does then your battery is the culprit.

Some HD manufacturers provide utilities for Disk Recovery. You can usually download these from their site. If you are lucky it is just the drives Master Boot Record that is damaged. The fact that the drive is recognizable is in your favour I think. Unfortunately when power is restored after an outage there is often a power surge or spike on your AC which can damage electronic equipment. Many devices these days work on such low voltages and current that it doesn't take much. A good surge protector is a must for computer equipment.
