As far as I know you should not be able to but I honestly dont know if there is some freeware out there that will let you do this. Good luck.

It Says that there is a built in mic but the people i chat with can't hear me. i don't think it's properly set-up. how do i set it up for skype and ym?

Make sure you have correctly installed the drivers for the microphone.
Running Skype, navigate to Skype-->Preferences--->Audio/Video from here you will able to select the device of your choice by changing the mic
Running Yahoo Messenger, navigate to YM-->Preferences-->Voice & Calls from here you will able to select the input device by choosing your mic These steps reference Mac, but PC should be similar.

I get bad interference on my mic when in a small room or a room with low ceilings. Both meters have all lights lit, all all times.

First solution is to lower your gain setting, lower it down all the way till all signal fades then start from there. In your eq settings, filter out all frfequencies below 80 that will eliminate alot of sensitivity. Lastly try not to fidget with your hands too much, or swing the mic around. Trying to use a microphone but not sure how to hook it up

No because the mic is a signel in device and the headphone jack is a signal out jack! meaning if you plug the mic into it the mic will act as a speaker and music will come out of it and ruin it!
I would buy an adapter at radio shack and plug it into the phono input on the back of unit! and if you dont have a phono input you will need to buy a small pre-amp and plug it into the aux or tape input!
That will work!

Mic hooked up, but doesn't work?

You have to turn on the mic. volume. It always automatically turns off when you turn on the power again. Or, you can press the gain button (white button). Good luck!

The first step is to go into your volume control panel and check to be sure that the microphone fader is not muted and is turned up. Also, what application are you attempting to talk to someone with -- telphone, IM chat, game chat?
