  • Anonymous Nov 06, 2008

i have two of these cameras, and both of them do not respond to pushing in the stick, but will respond to moving the stick left right up or down. does anyone know who i can contact to purchase replacement parts?

'I'm also having problems with a non-functioning joy stick. It sits in it's cradle but doesn't engage any of the menu functions thus rendering the camera useless. I'm also starting to experience an erratically functional zooming lever located on the top right of the camera body.

How do I access the solder connections? Do I need to take the camera completely apart or try to snap off the gray colored cradle that surrounds the joy stick?

How do I access the solder points for the 5 way switch? It looks like I must try to disassemble the entire camera.

The 5-way switch breaks it's solder connections on several Kodak models. if you have a soldering iron with a fine tip and are comfortable working on small soldering joints it is possible to repair the joystick (there are 10 solder connections on a 1/4 inch square switch, 3 on two sides and 2 on the other two sides)

I've had the DX7630 for more than five years, and up until recently, the only problem I had was the battery clip breaking. I bought a new one on eBay, but I just noticed the round piece that holds the spring for the clip seems to be cracked again. The other problems that just surfaced are missing pixels on the viewer screen, and I found that the joystick button that you push to select actions doesn't work, or at least it didn't work for deleting photos that I don't want. I found a good video (audio in German) that shows how to get the back off the camera and replace the viewer screen, and I used the directions to get the back off my camera. The rotary switch and the joystick and their associated circuit board come off with the back. I undid the two screws that hold the board to the back, and then was able to turn over the board and view the gold switch contact tracks. I took an ordinary rubber pencil eraser (the non-smearing kind) and gently rubbed around all surfaces of the tracks and reassembled the circuit board, the joystick and re-plugged the ribbon connection from the main camera body to the switch circuit board, retaped it to hold it secure, and then reassembled the whole camera. Now the joystick seems to work for all functions. Yippee!

My Kodak Easyshare DX7630 no longer takes 6.1 megapixel images!

This happens all the time.

Don't confuse pixels with bytes. JPEG files are compressed so as to tale less disk space. 1.5 to 2MB is just about right for 6MP pictures.

Kodak Easyshare DX7630 Can't Tranfer Pictures

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa or Kodak's.

Joystick not working. The cam turns on and prompts for date and time to be set. The only thing I can get it to do id to move the curser up and down. I can't slect anything to continue to set the date &...

To reset the date connect Camera to PC. Open Easyshare Software, Go to Tools and Select SYNC. This will usually set the Camera Time/Date to the PC Time and Date. I have the same problem,(DX7630) cannot Move to the Right or use the Enter on Joy Stick so I am stuck with the Settings that were used last. I have contacted Kodak and there are No replacement Parts available. Just Great, I have a perfectly working Camera($500) and all accessories but it is basically useless due to a defective $1.00 Part. Last Kodak I will ever Buy.

My screen reads "camera error # E21"

On my LS 743 Kodak Camera, that error refers to a lens mechanism problem. I was able to fix it by removing my front cover which had be come dented inward and short circuited some wiring. Re-shaping the cover fixed the problem. This will probably void your warranty...
