Question about JVC HX-C6 Shelf System

1 Answer

JVC HX-7 (protect)

I have a JVC HX-D7 shelf system and my problem is my stereo will play for a minute then shut itself off and display protect. I thought there may be a wire on the inside touching something and it shuts itself down before it burns out but i cant seem to find nowhere to send it to to have it looked at I live in Missouri so can I get some help.

I'm not sure why mine is doing it. I've had it for about two years now, and just recently started saying protect in the display. I used to listen to it all the time, and I had my laptop hooked up to it as a mini DJ station. On occasion, I had my gaming system hooked up to it as well. Hopefully it is something small and/or stupid that is making it do it.

The problem is that the output amplifier section has a problem and the protection circuits are shutting down the system to prevent further damage. This should be a simple repair for any local service shop. If you can't find someone local, look up at the JVC website for an authorized service center. Use your zip code to locate the closest one.

My jvc hx-d7 radio is turned on in 2 seconds it shuts down to protect mode how do i take protect off ?

You can't. The main amplifier module will probably have a channel blown. The unit is detecting this and tripping into protect mode to stop further damage occurring. Needs to go to a repair place. sorry. ps If you get sound briefly before it trips off then it may just be a speaker wire shorting out! worth checking

When i turn my stereo on it says protect and shuts off

Protect on the display means there is a problem with the system and the system goes into protect mode to save the system from further damage. Now the problem could be many. ...... It cud be that the speakers are shorting......It cud also be the Amplifier IC's shorting ....in short the system could be detecting an overcurrent in any one of the circuits.......... a good technician may be able to rectify the problem

You have a short in the internal power of this unit. It is going into protect and shutting itself off to keep it from damaging anymore of the internal electronics. Very likely a voltage regulator has gone bad or a power capacitor has gone bad. You will not be able to repair this yourself unless you are skilled in electronic repair. I would suggest contacting the manu and seeing if they have a authorized repair shop in your area. If not ask around and see who is a reputable repair shop in your area.

I had a similar problem, and took it to an authorized repair shop(under warranty), the kept it six months, and JVC finally admitted there are solder connections with that model, and six months later, we got a new unit. I will buy Sony next time
