Question about Gateway Computers & Internet

I have a Gateway Laptop purchased in 2006.Serial # 0036378223. This computer warranty is expired. It has recentlty gotten dropped and damaged. I would like info on sending it in to Gateway to be fixed.

Most likely a broken wire in the wiring from the computer to the screen. Some place charge up to 100 dollars to fix it. This is a very common problem.

to add your warranty, you may check your manual if the serial number has been expired or not. If the manual didnt say any expiration date, then call gateway to arrange a warranty extension. It will depend on Gateway rules and procedures whether they will extend the warranty or not..

Need a copy of warranty for Gateway M-1626 laptop


Find the serial-number for your Gateway computer -- usually somewhere on the label(s) on the bottom.

Access Gateway's web-site:

http://support.gateway.com/support/srt/allsysteminfo.aspx?sn=new

and enter the serial-number, to get information, hopefully including "warranty-status" for your system.

Lost serial # for a Gateway notebook Model MX 6425.


It may be difficult to get Gateway to honor the warranty with the sticker missing. The receipt from when you purchased the laptop may have the serial number on it. If you can find a friends battery and get the computer on for a few minutes, sometimes the serial can be found in the BIOS. Belarc Advisor also can sometimes bring up that information, but you would have to get into windows to do that. How did you find out about the extended warranty?

Gateway boot problem


This mostly happens when your motherboard is bad or one of the memory modules is bad.

The led light comming on indicates your power pack is ok but a component is failing to start especially when the laptop stops at the first screen stage where the manufacturer names appears.

The steps needed to solve this kind of problem would require technical skills and physical inspection.

If you still have a waranty period then seek a free service repair from an authorized or certified gateway service centre at the nearest centre closest to you.

If your warranty has expired, i still advise taking your Laptop to the closest Gateway service centre.

Does my protection plan cover a damaged LCD screen on my laptop?


It depends on the warranty you purchased. Most basic warranties do not cover accidental damage, such as the damage your laptop sustained. Your best bet is to contact Gateway directly - they will be able to determine your warranty coverage. (Or if you purchased through a store like Best Buy, take it to them.) If you do not have ADP, you would have to pay for the repairs out of pocket.

Hi, I think this will help you. Go to www.gateway.com, and click on Support. On the next screen, type in your serial number and click on Submit. That will take you to a page where you can download what you need or get other stuff, like manuals. Example, click on My Downloads and then tell them which operating system. You may spend a little time but you'll get what you're searching for. Best wishes.
