Question about Gateway PC Desktops

I have a Gateway Laptop purchased in 2006.Serial # 0036378223. This computer warranty is expired. It has recentlty gotten dropped and damaged. I would like info on sending it in to Gateway to be fixed.

register what? With Gateway for warranty?
Go to Gateway.com and follow the links for registering your product.
You'll need purchase info ( where when) and the serial number from the box or side of the computer on the label.

why not use the laptop u have as a replacement for ur motherboard.....would be much easier as to stuff around......the ball is in ur corner,,,,and good luck

The camera on my laptop, model MT616 does not work anymore. If I click on the camera button it does nothing. It was purchased 12/11/2007 so I hope it's under warranty. Connie...

I can't find your laptop in Gateway's database. Try poking around here, either with your serial number (this page) or by clicking the "Browse all downloads" tab and typing in your model number, which may be missing a number.

If you're browsing, hit "Display results" at the bottom before you enter anything in for question 4.

There should be some Webcam software, including a newer version of the drivers and a firmware update- - which will actually make the camera itself work differently.

Also look to see if there's any software from Gateway itself. Sometimes manufacturers build their own software to set up one button to enter a power management screen, one button to enter a setup screen, one button to open e-mail, etc. There may be similar controlling software for your camera.

Did you notice cd utilities enclosed in your gateway desktop? If yes then you should insert that in the cd rom and then install all the drivers needed from the chipset, VGA, audio and other drivers.

If you have no utilities then you have to download it from the gateway website. or here:

It sounds like you need to reinstall the driver for the Realtek network interface card (NIC). I recommend accessing the Gateway web site to find the model number of the laptop, and then download the driver for the Realtek NIC. This should restore the functionality.

If you really do have a hard drive problem, then take the ahrd drive out, and see who makes it. It should have something like a 3 year warrenty depending on manufacturer.

Call the company, and get it replaced directly from them. Leave bestbuy out of the equation.

Only gateway can let u know if it will void the warranty. Check there policy on upgrades in your warranty information first, if you area skilled tech i don't think it will be a problem but if u have no expirence leave it to the pros

Hi, I think this will help you. Go to www.gateway.com, and click on Support. On the next screen, type in your serial number and click on Submit. That will take you to a page where you can download what you need or get other stuff, like manuals. Example, click on My Downloads and then tell them which operating system. You may spend a little time but you'll get what you're searching for. Best wishes.
