It is a Hotpoint AQ xxd 169. During the rinse cycle the washing machine overfilled and some water spilled on to the floor. The machine stopped and said it could not fill with water. The door showed the machine completely filled to the top. Tried the pump cycle but the door lock opened and the door burst open. Checked the filter and this was clean.

What eroor8 in weat point washing machine

Error 8 Washing machine has detected an
overfill situation This error code can be caused by
overfoaming which is a result of overloading (see this article) or by overdosing or, incorrect detergent as
the pressure sensor will falsely read
that there is too much water in the
washing machine. Also check the pressure sensor and
that the machine has not actually
overfilled with water. Check for overfoaming or over
soaping Check the air chamber and the
pressure switch hose Check water level sensor Check wiring to water pressure

The wash machine stopped working and is flashing FL

FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.

Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

My washing machine stops

FL = Overfill

You should check your pump. If the pump is letting the washer overfill, replace it. Look around for some ways to take the cabinet off.

OVERFILLED AND FLOODED HOUSE

1 of two problems happened.
1) either the water level sensor went bad. Which tells the water inlet valve when to shut off and the machine to start operating.
2) The water inlet valve has failed. This comes from the water hose and fills the washing machine.

Washer is overfilling & leaking

Are you using front loader only detergent?(oversudsing) Overfilling is either a pressure switch, or pressure chamber is blocked(located toward underside of outer bowl approx 6 inches long) this is only in older machines with extensive cold washes.

Washing machine overfills with water at start up after two years in use.

If the washing machine operates and cycles correctly, and only problem is overfills, then you have a bad water level switch or a bad membrane sensor (water level sensor).

If instead the machine get stuck on filling, and does not stop even if you advance timer, then the inlet valve is stuck on open, or the control board is faulty.

If machine is only two years old, call manufacturer and complain, even id limited warranty is one year, they may cover the part cost the same if they decide this was a factory defect (if it is inlet valve) coming up after two years.
