Before starting any software or map update please ensure your device is fully charged.
Disable your firewall and/or antivirus software while you are having Content Manager check for updates.
Log out and log back into Content Manager, click on Check for Available Updates.
Uninstall and reinstall Content Manager
Make sure your GPS device is fully charged.
Connect your device to your computer with a USB cable. If it doesn't turn on automatically, turn it on. The GPS's screen should state that it is in USB mode. Once the installation begins, do not unplug your device.
Launch the free Content Manager software, or download here.
Right click on the Content Manager icon located in the system tray and select "Sync Purchase Features / Content".
You may be prompted to update your device software before the map upgrade begins.
Once the map upgrade begins, you will be able to view the download progress via the progress bar. (If the progress bar has been minimized go to the Content Manager icon in your task bar and left click it to display it again)
When the upgrade is complete, restart your GPS device.
NOTE: You must be logged in to your account using content manager or the Sync purchased feature option will be inaccessible to do this right click onto the content manager and select login
Yes! Yes! The exact same thing is happening to my nuvi 1300 right now one month after yours. What did you figure out? Can someone help? I've also tried to do the clear the device by pushing the right hand corner of the screen while powering on and I do not get any sort of 'would you like to clear everything?' message that I'm suppose to get. I'm going to check into battery recall that I heard about, but I don't think it's for the Nuvi 1300.
Someone help!
A :)
The simple way is to send the unit to Garmin they will load the maps for free.
If you keep trying - try this -
With your thumb in the lower right corner of the screen - pushing in - like there is an X there - [ push with your thumb before you turn it on] Turn it on -
when this screen comes up - push YES -
then try your maps.
If they do not load on your pc [ which must have the unit hooked up and a legit copy of the newest maps ] then send the unit to Garmin. They will load your maps for you FREE.
Try resetting the unit and also charge it using only the wall charger overnight.
Here's how to reset -it just puts everything back to factory settings -1- Turn unit on WHILE HOLDING your thumb in the lower right corner as shown in picture.2-Select YESPLEASE Take the time to vote me up this is my only reward for trying to help. Thanks PIC 2
NO!. THE MAPS CAN ONLY BE DELETED USING THE USB CABLE. GO TO GARMIN WEBSITE YOU MAY NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE USB DRIVERS. THEN TRY THE UPDATE AGAIN. IF THE MAPS ARE ON A CD YOU WILL ALSO NEED THE UNLOCK CODES AND THE UNIT SERIAL NUMBER.
Are you using a USB cable & charger to operate the GPS?
If so, you should stop and use the supplied cradle / power cord to power the GPS instead. The USB cable is used to transfer data to and from the GPS and on other models (maybe your 350, too) to slow charge the GPS battery when completely discharged. Powering with the USB cable will power up the GPS, but does not allow navigation, mapping, etc.
Cause of all these problems may be as simple as faulty USB cable. I had initially bought cable on e-bay when i described problem below and didn't think cable was faulty as got the green loading bar etc. Subsequently tried another cable from a digital camera and gps began charging but no green loading bar etc. Finally borrowed cable from friend with similar model and it all worked perfectly: began charging, managed to register (and get the free 2009 maps update) etc. so problem could be the cable. Garmin sell it on their website for 7 euro but I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives in Electronics shops.
1. Connect Nuvi3xx to PC vis USB Cable for 7xx to go into mass storage mode. 2. Slide Power Switch to the right (LOCK Position) 3. Click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in system Tray on PC (Lower Right) 4. Click on "Safely remove USB Mass Storage Device - Drives(x:and y:)" x: = mass storage for the 3xx and y: = the SD card if one is installed 5. WAIT for 3xx to Boot UP. 6. After 360 Boots UP slide power switch to center position
"My tom tom wonts switch on. I have reset it and still it comes on with a boom boom noise and shows the 2 hands on the screen. It also shows the loading bar at the bottom, but then it just freezes and nothing happens. can anyone help please ASAP"
Sound as though your Map data card is corrupt. Remove the SD card and check it with your computer using a card reader. Backup the SD card onto your computer. You can run either chkdsk or go to the drive letter under 'My Computer' right click and select properties, then tools, then check now. You can also try starting the Tomtom with the SD card out of the unit. It should show a picture of the Tomtom with a 'X'. You can also try copying the data on the SD card to another SD card.
