Question about HP Pavilion F1903 19" Flat Panel LCD Monitor

1 Answer

HP F1903 monitor

My F1903 monitor goes black with the power light still green. If I unplug it overnight it may work a few minutes to several hours before going black again. I have been using an old 17"CRT which I hate!!!! I want my 19" LCD back again. Can you help? I've never even had an LCD apart before but I'm great at soddering if you can tell me what part to replace and where to find it.
Thankyou

Same thing... my 19" HP f1903 goes to a black screen. If I turn it off then turn it on again, it will work for about 1/2 a second then goes black again. Had to hook up an old monitor...please help me get my flat screen back!

Also have same problem. Up to now, monitor worked great! Was working on a project when it suddenly went blank & started flashing the amber light (vice blue) as if in standby mode or something. Could not get thing to display again so turned off a few minutes. When turned back on, would briefly flash desktop/image screen for about 1 second then go blank again.

Tried again several times, each with same results. Note that during third try, heard a low blunt pop noise & it flickered, but still no picture. Slight smell of burning wiring, but not strong & only noticeable with nose at upper vent area of screen. Tried vacuming vents (upper & lower) to remove dust etc, but made no difference.

Unplugged and now using an old 12 inch CRT screen (awful!) just to do email & this post. Can this problem be fixed at our level without heavy cost? Or do we need to start shopping? (note: this does not give me a lot of confidence in buying another HP monitor. Only had this one a year)

    Thanks

    Don

Same problem. Too much dust got in the back and the thing went blank after emitting some smoke. Now it flashes the desktop for about a second before going black again. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO OPEN THE CASE???????

Fellow HP f1903 users...  I have same issues.  All of a sudden black screen.  Turn on and off to get 1 sec of the current screen then, back to black.  Any solutions yet?

    Thanks!

Same thing, comes on and goes off in a spilt second. Apparently the "backlight" is out. I was told this after the tech had me shine a flashlight at the screen and we could "see" the page under the black screen. We're looking for parts but I was warned that getting new may be best option. Bummer.

Sure the F1903
is a LCD monitor but is old , it has
and CCFL black lamp.
it has board inside that is the power supply /inverter
this board runs the lamps.
the lamps love to fail after 10 long year of service
so when monitor fails, push the menu botton on the front
is the OSD menu dead (monitor brains inside)???

see bottom of this page , see CCFL and PCB there?
if lamps bad replace them
if PCB bad replace it, seen sold on Ebay , vastly, there.

http://pcdied.com/black-screen.html#CCFL-examples

some of these old monitors.
have silly internal sleep mode,
turn that off. (push menu button on front)
see OSD (on screen,display menus)
see settings
see power saver mode, turn it OFF,

it seems that youre monitor has a dry solder problem, try tapping it if the picture resumes to normal for a while than get it resoldered from a technician. if it soesnot solve problem than look out for a burnt resistance.

I assume the monitor is still plugged into the back of the system?

If so, do you get any beeps which can denote error codes for the system?  Put your ear to the monitor, any strange whinning noise?

SOURCE: My HP LCD comes on when I turn on the power, but for few seconds.

The monitor has blown a capacitor, and if your good with a soldering gun and can locate the cap which will have the top rounded instead of flat, remove it and take it to the electronic store and they will give you a replacement. If the capacitor is bad it won't hold the charge and that's why you only see a second or two on the screen. Make sure you are capable of this kind of work, before you decide to do it.

HP LP3065 monitor turns off and won't turn back on; is this a Windows problem

It doesnt sound like a windows problem. A simple test for this is to unplug the vga or hdmi cable from the monitor then turn it on if it has power it should say no signal. Also try either another power cable to the monitor or change the fuse. Hope this helps.

faith1114, Try this first! See if any thing seems a little similar to your f1903 type of complaint. Problem been around a long time!!! Go do some reading here: http://www.lesliewong.us/blog/2005/05/02/hp-pavilion-f1703-flat-panel-display-blackout-solution. After doing some reading there, you will be in a better position to make decision to DIY repair, contract out the repair work, trade in for new , DIY repair + buy a new monitor keeping refurbished f1903 as emergency spare. Here is a little clue. If unit can display Win-desktop for 2 seconds and then the "black screen of death happens" you certainly need to do some reading and viewing of DIY videos at YOUTUBE so you can understand the big problem all major CCFL back-lit lcd monitor manufacturers are facing. do some additional reading here at fixya in the profiles of ccfl backlit lcd monitor technicians "budmrtn" "buddymc" , "12fixlouie" (late) "louie12fix" (old) Follow links you find there. Once you understand basic problem you will never walk past the new curlie-Q, screw-in energy-efficient CFL light bulbs at the local hardware or big box homecenter ever again with out having a slight grin on your face!! Bye for now. 12fixlouie

Speakers don't Work on HP Pavilion f1903 desktop

Just match the color of the male and female on each end. Plug the audio cable (mini stereo phone plugs) to the PC audio line out (green miniphone jack) to the Powered speaker mini stereo phone audio line input jack (green color jack). You will have to set the volume controls of the speaker control knob and at the PC on screen volume control panel.
