Can i search local disk for mac data with a windos 7 home system

Data? You can search for files. dmg, pkg etc. Actual data from a mac program? you might have problems. If it was data put on the drive by a mac, again, you might be able to find it.

What is mac address?

A Media Access Control address (MAC address) is a unique identifier assigned to network interfaces for communications on the physical network segment. Logically, MAC addresses are used in the Media Access Control protocol sub-layer of the OSI reference model.

MAC addresses are most often assigned by the manufacturer of a network interface card (NIC) and are stored in its hardware, the card's read-only memory, or some other firmware mechanism. If assigned by the manufacturer, a MAC address usually encodes the manufacturer's registered identification number. It may also be known as an Ethernet hardware address(EHA), hardware address, adapter address, or physical address.

Hope this information will help you.

Can't find my MAC address

Hi, here is a solution for your problem: Obtaining your MAC address
Your MAC address will normally be on the box or registration card for your computer or individual ethernet card. If you can not find it, please follow the instructions below depending on your operating system.
Windows Vista:
  1. Click on Start Button.
  2. Click on All Programs.
  3. Click on Accessories.
  4. Click on System Tools.
  5. Click on System Information.
  6. Click on plus sign in front of Components.
  7. Click on plus sign in front of Network.
  8. Click on Adapter.
  9. Scroll down to your Network Interface Card and it will list the MAC Addresss. (Make sure you do not get the wireless adapter).

WINDOWS NT, 2000, or XP:
  1. Using your mouse, click on the Start Button.
  2. Click on Programs.
  3. Click on Accessories, and then Command Prompt.
  4. Once a small black window appears, type in ipconfig /all (with a space between the g and the /).
  5. Locate the number to the right of Physical Address. This is your MAC address.
WINDOWS 95/98/ME:
  1. After clicking on the Start Button, click on Run.
  2. In the white space of the window, type in the word winipcfg
  3. Click on "OK".
  4. Look under the info for the Ethernet adapter. (Your system may also have a modem.)
  5. The number next to "Adapter Address" is your MAC address.
Hope this helps.

I am trying to install my maxtor onetouch 4 on my pc. I have already installed it on my mac with no problems, but for some reason it wont register where I can intall it... Please help

If it is already set up for your mac, you wont be able to install it on your PC. Mac;s and PC's have type file systems, you should put everything important back onto your mac, and then format your drive using the PC. Then you will be able to share files from your pc to your mac.

Your disc must you converting from ISO format to UDF format; the same systems can read that (WIN and MAC too).
You can do it with the Nero burning program, with the menu "create UDF disk".
Otherwise you must convert your files what contains the cam's drivers to *.dmg format,MAC os can read it too.
Hope,that will helps to you.

I'm no MAC expert, but I would first try a new cable, then try a different computer...if neither works, it's the drive. If you're really desperate, and brave, open the case and try the hard drive inside either in a different enclosure, or connect it to an internal cable if you can. If you can hear the drive spinning up, it shouldn't be bad, so one of the above may save your data. If not, reply here, I know a major MAC guru who may have a better idea on what to do.
