All ready got remote programed it does every thing but turn up the volume

If the remote turns the tv off an on it should also do the volume.
Some tvs have built in DVD players and you normally have to program the remote to the dvd button to control the volume on those models.

Remote doesn't control. batteries are good, but there is no apparent connection between the remote and the TV. It is in use with a Comcast turner-DVR, which works fine, but I have to turn on and adjust...

Are you using Comcast remote to control the TV? When you program the Comcast remote to control your TV, it will do two functions: on/off, and Volume control. The Comcast can also be programmed not to control the volume of the TV (TV volume will have to be set at about mid level manually, then the Comcast box will send out variable sound level to the TV), just on/off ONLY.

The volume is turning itself down all by itself. The volume on the remote won't work, but the remote is fine with the other TV controls.

It sounds like the button is stuck. Take the remote apart if you can and see if the key is stuck somewhere. This happened to me once with a rubber key type of remote. It drove me crazy.

Hum in sound volume

It could be a few things. The first thing you want to look at is make sure that the microphone is muted in the mixer controls of your audio cards. These settings are located in the control panel. If you need the mic, look under the advanced settings under it and disable the 20 db option for it.

If that doesn't work I have a few other ideas.

Audio problems

Good Day, corilyn;
Several things that you may try:
1. Unplug TV and Cable/Sat box for 3-4 minutes, plug all back in, that's resetting the devices.
2. Some boxes have volume controls, make sure 'box' volume are turned to max.
3. Go into TV's customer menu, go to audio section, make sure speakers are turned on/ set to internal speakers.

Good Luck, Big Irish.

Possessed remote and tv

How old is this set? some of the late 90's early 2ks had issues with the Gemstar module, then you also said that you unplugged the buttons, if unplugging the buttons fixed your problem, you probably have contamination in the buttons and they are $2 switches, I would replace all 8 (if you have 8) as I do in some of the CTC169 Chassis televisions, depends upon your level of expertise and such. This set has the Guide+ system and I think that you might have a Gemstar issue still, it is a little 2" square box that has 2 ribbon cables that plug into it, and is fairly easily replaceable.

I am having problems programming the remote

Programming a GE Universal Remote Control takes about seven steps. Step One: Manually turn on the device you wish to program. Step Two: Press the Code Search button on the remote until the indicator light turns on. Step Three: Release the Code Search button. Step Four: Press and release the button for the device you are programming. Step Five: Enter the three-digit code for the device using the number buttons on the remote. After the code is entered, the indicator light turns off. Step Six: Aim the remote at the device and press the power button. The device should turn off. Step Seven: Press Channel Up on the remote with the device on. If the device responds, no further programming is required. To look up a device code to enter directly into the remote, visit the GE Remote Code Locator Website. http://www.jascoproducts.com/support/dow... http://www.jascoproducts.com/support/dow... Hope this helps, Good Luck :) Please Vote
