Question about Ricoh Aficio CL3500N Laser Printer

Ricoh cl3500 printing light

This printer is printing light even after the black has been replaced, what should I do to correct this?

    I shook the toner and even took the little spongy roller out inspected it and put it back.

I installed a non-ricoh cartridge and the replace cartridge light stays on. Is this because ricoh won't recognize a cartridge from a different manufacturer? I have removed and shock several times but no change.

Check the transfer roller. Its a black spongy roller in from of the drum. Make sure it is getting good contact. Did you shake the toner cartridge before you installed it?

    It could be drum might not be working properly due to wear and tear. Any lines on the copies?



    Is this toner a Ricoh product or was it made by another company?

My Ricoh SP 232sf wont print at all because the K toner is out of toner but it has plenty of color. Can I force it to print somehow?


Unfortunately, no, the printer won't print even in color if the black toner is empty. The black drum rotates whether the copier is printing in black & white or color, so if black is empty you can't print at all.

How do you clean the head on my cl3500n


the cl3500 is a laser printer and as such doesnt have a head per se.
you can remove the dev units and the k and cmyk pcu's and the image belt and using a flash light and a lint free cloth shine the light upwards and clean the led array, but typically if you have quality issues it will be either or all of the consumables which can be purchased from ricoh direct or from

Thought I would ask you, since u have answered Ricoh CL3500N


According to the maintenance manual, broken lines are caused by the "dithering" setting. Also there is an in depth color calibration process you can execute. Have you checked the PCU unit?

You may have to replace the transfer belt or the drum. I would start with the drum first
