if your ipod is within a year of purchase it's still under warranty. return it to apple and they will replace it. or if it is within 30 days return it to the retailer and take your receipt and they may just give you a new one. It sounds like the LCD went bad, it happens and apple is aware of these issues so try and get it replaced. If you don't want to do the warranty thing, go onto ebay and buy a screen for it and do a search on youtube for a "take apart" video for your model.
