Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Device Manager can't read the device

Here is something you can try:

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

Loss of internet connection when going through router

Your laptop seems to be hooked to your neighbours unsecured network automatically and it is going online with that. About comcast, when you connect a router to the modem or a computer to the modem, the modem has to be rebooted to give a valid IP to the connected device. If the modem is not rebooted the computer or the router will get 192.168.x.x IP address which is called private IP address.

Can't get my computer to recognize the device

You may use different USB ports. Make sure your computer USB is v2.0 Computer's Bios and Chipset update could be a possible solution. You may also try Firewire/1394 Connection which is more reliable and faster for video editing and conversion.

Usually in professional use hook up the Camcorder directly to the computer is not very preferred, Using DV converters are more common such as Canopus products as you can find them on www.canopus.com

1: go to control panel
2:add hardware
3:connect your hardware device and click "yes i have connected the hardware"
4:scroll down and select install new hardware device
5:select install hardware that i manually select from a list
6:scroll down to windows portable devices
7:and choose MTP device
this should make it so your ipod is now recognised by the computer

Try resetting the device to the default factory settings. Then see if you can get an IP address, either wireless or ethernet, to configure the router through its web interface.

Computer won't read player

It means your player is in Autodetect/MTP. For your computer to recognize the device you should have windows xp with windows media player 10 or 11 / windows vista with windows media player 11. If your computer is in MSC then you will have there a safely remove icon, because your player act like a thumb drive. Note: You said it was working before on that computer try using a different usb port and uninstalling reinstalling your windows media player software. Hope this helps :D
