I have a Magic Chef dishwasher (cheapest you can get). The dishwasher has only been in use for 1 month, and now I can't get it to fill or drain or do much of anything. The water is just sitting at the bottom of the dishwasher from the last wash and it won't drain. Where should I start?

- I eventually had to hire a repair person to come by and look at the dishwasher. $75 later, motor is shot, so they tell me. Not worth fixing, now I am looking for a new dishwasher.
Just really sucks that the dishwasher was only used for 1 month(Can't use warranty because it was sitting in the box for 2 years and it was given to me)
I guess now I need to know what kind to buy without spending a fortune.
-   It fills properly but drains very little. You can see water going through the disposal and hear it going down the drain but not nearly as before. I check the drain area inside the dishwasher and there was nothing. -   Guest
Hello annie8866,
First off.. unplug power and then reapply power to it for a little while to see if a power reset will put it back in the proper sequence.. next, check inside the base for a drain inlet and a filter/screen and clean anything you see out of it.. Then try cycling it without dishes to see if it will run thru a cycle and drain properly.. Its ok to add a cup or two of white vinegar during the wash process to remove byproducts of the wash from the inner components.. Make sure the drain hose is not clogged or kinked up.. Try these things and get back to me if it is still misbehaving..

- Hello again,
Sorry to hear about your situation. I suggest that no matter which brand you buy.. you consider the extended warranty option to make sure it gets repaired down the road, should components like the motor fail. I went thru that with LG front loader laundry products but took advantage of the warranty program and despite being a major pain, got everything resolved to my satisfaction eventually.. The only cost ( aside from the warranty) was downtime of the appliances while the service process was used. This entire forum would not be here if all appliances worked perfectly forever so you wil have to ask around, assess your budget situation, then decide which appliance makes sense for you... I do belive that routine maintenance wll extend the life on any of these products.. Good Luck...

Hello Mr Fixit, When I turn the dishwasher to the normal clean cycle, I can hear it very quietly moving around, but nothing sees to happen. There is water pooling at the bottom of the dishwasher at a level which is not normal. I have cleaned out the filter and fished around a little. Nothing really obvious, although I am not a Top Dishwasher Expert! Hope you can help Vincent
