Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Samsung pedestals Hi - we sortof have the same problem. Bought 2 peds at BB, with no instructions, and were told we just needed to buy the bolts to bolt the wash/dryer to it. The bolt we were shown however, does not fit in the hole in the pedestal, once we got it home. There are 4 black plastic brackets that must go on the corners, but what actually holds the appliance to the pedestal? We do have 4 adjustable feet by the way - and I assume the black plastic threaded feet on the wash/dryer are taken off and not used with the peds? Sorry for all the questions, but BB hasn't been able to help us !

Howdy,

So we had a similar problem. I actually went to a Sears Outlet here in San Diego where a tech gave me the bolts for free! But......the pedestals are still not compatible. I think Samsung built this discrepancy on purpose, just as other manufacturers do, because it makes them money. No cutting corners and buying previous year's stuff at a discount. BTW, I did verify the incompatibility with Samsung...

Good luck!!

Remove pedestal from washer

Those washers are heavy! They have weights in them to prevent moving when spinning. Some use bolts through the bottom of the pedestal up through the washer and others use bolts down through the washer into the pedestal. Remove the bolts and lift the washer off the pedestal. You might need to get levelling bolts for the washer or check to see if the bolts are on the bottom of the pedestal. Make sure you get help to move the machine.

Just purchased a LG 8500HSA Mega Front Load Washer Special Order! What is the Pedestal Model Number?

Please check your model number. 8500HSA does not cross to anything on LG.COM.

Universal pedestals are for sale at Sears, Home Depot, Lowers, and Best Buy. The pedestal and machine will bolt together, that is, a bolt will run upward from the pedestal into threaded bolt holes in the bottom of the washer. If you can measure the distance from bolt hole to bolt hole on the bottom of the washer, you can check to see if the universal pedestal fits before you buy it.

Several months ago I took my front loaders off the pedestals. The pedestals were kind of nice for handling the clothes but about 40% of the time I spilled either detergent, bleach, or softener because the pedestal put the drawer too high for me.

I bought a new frontload washer and a used pesestal for it, but the pedestal only came with for small screws. I was told that this was all I needed but I am not convinced. Seems like there should be more...

There isnt anything more needed than the 4 screws.
The bottom of the front loader is designed to center itself into the pedestal so that the 4 screws are all that is needed to keep it locked down.

How do we install the pedestal to the front load Kenmore washer

The pedestals bolt into the bottom of the washer where the legs where.

This is definatly a heavy job, so it's best to get 2 more people to help you out.

#1 Remove all 4 legs that came on the washer factory.

#2 Make sure you have enough room to manouver the machines. The washer is going to be the most difficult so start with it.

#3 Have your friends tilt the machine back and you slide the pedestal under the machine.

#4 Kneel down infront of the machine to prevent it from sliding forward.

#5 Have your friends lift up the back of the machine and walk it forward until the holes in the top of the pedestal are in line wiht the holes from where the legs where.

#6 Thread in the bolts and tighten.

**You will need to take out the drawer of the pedestal to get the back bolts in. There are plastic clips on the inside of the runners, just push those down at hte same time and pull the drawer**

Good luck! Please let me know if this was helpful!

Vibration

Does it have runner pads on the leveling feet on the washer resting on the pedestal?
If so, and it still moves all over, you will have to fasten the washer to the pedestal with bolts and nuts. I had a GE that did the same thing. I finally laid them on their side, drilled out the holes to fit bolts and washers I bought from Home Depot. They really don't make that clear, do they?

Terrible vibration on washer

Remove the shipping bolts from the back of the washer. Please see the instruction manual for more information, but there is severe vibration if you don't remove them. It seems a lot of people overlook this step.
