Thank you for your help and quick response. the problem was the lid switch and i have purchased a new one at a local parts store. now i am confused on how to get the top of the machine off as to replace the switch. any suggestions.
The entire case comes off as one assembly on these washers. Believe it or not, it is actually much easier and rather ingenious. Just make sure you pay particular attention to reassembling the unit when completed. If you do not get the washer case back on the frame correctly, the retaining clips will not insert properly. Good luck to you and let me know if you require additional assistance. I hope this helps you.

Probably needs a lid switch. If it thinks the lid is up the machine won't spin and the cycle stops. Replacing the switch is not difficult. This page shows the procedure for removing the cabinet to access the switch. (It sounds scary but it actually quite simple.) You can find replacement switches at a local appliance parts store or from several online sources. If you don't feel up to doing it yourself, this repair won't cost as much as a new machine if you have it serviced.
Hope this helps get you spinning again. Thanks for using fixya!
you will need to replace the plastic piece that triggers your lid switch hopefully you havent damaged your lid switch (probably not) the are easy to replace and very inexpensive less than ten dollars usually you can purchase one of them from your local Sears or just about any appliance store they just push in to clip you dont even need any tools thanks hope this helps you
I've had the same problem...you can purchase a replacement lid switch at your local appliance parts store for about $35. Fortunatly, the sales person at the appliance store had diagrams and provided instructions to replace the switch. I was able to finish the job and fix the switch in less than 1 hour. Good Luck.
