Whirlpool duet dryer will no start...the "sensing" light comes on when you hit start; it makes the click noise in the door when you hit start, it counts down, but it does not tumble or anything
We bought this duet dryer about a year ago...it has only been used for about 9 months though. It was in the middle of drying clothes yesterday when I quit. I came in to check on them and they were still damp so I tried to turn it back on and it wouldn't. The lights come on and when you hit start, the "sensing' light comes on and the door makes the "click" noise it usually does, but the dryer does not go. The counter counts down. I have reset the breakers.

does the time still count down and continue on as if it was going? when you press start can you hear a humming noise from within the machine as if the motor was going but the drum not turning? if so its eitha the belt has come off or loose or the starter capacitor has died, reply if you'd like more info
Ours was doing the same thing you would hear a click and nothing but the sensing light. I found the thermal fuse to be blown Part #3392519. Easy to get to through the front cover under the load door. I went ahead and vacuumed and cleaned out the inside and vent tube.
You need to listen for the motor working ? Open the dryer door hold the door switch in and start the dryer . A buzzing sound may indicate a bad motor. If you hear a slight spinning noise ,it may just be the belt.
well the sensing light will stay on till it feels wet clothes against it if you in auto dry mode it says it wont start without feeling wet clothes against the silver bars in the vent housing it says it will run in manuel mode even if it doesn't feel them pull the top off the dryer and on the right hand side is a tech service sheet in a plastic bag see what it says
Possible door s/w or thermal fuse. If its blowing thermal fuses with a clean and avg vent run check the relay, cycle unit with no heat fuction if the heat still comes on replace the relay board. Call your local servicer.
