Dark or Black Webcam Image Problems

Toshiba laptop owners may have problems with the webcam displaying as dark or completely black a few seconds after the initial image appears or immediately after engaging the webcam.

It might take some time being a freeware driver solution

note: it will find all of your outdated drivers

this is a free driver solutions

this will automatically search for and find the correct driver
you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you

want to restart or make a system restore point click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated

Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right.

Need a driver for web cam 251-6506

I cant seem to find a free driver for your webcam. So I'll give some options of what you can do.

1st option is this.

LINK

Go to the link above and click the download button. its an easy way to download your driver, but the sad news is you have to pay for it for almost $3 . you can pay it by Paypal or using your credit/debit card.

2nd Option is this:

LINK 2
  • The second option is to download the software in the link above and install it to your PC.
  • Run the program and click Scan to start scanning for installed devices. (You must connect first your webcam before starting the scan in order for the software to detect your webcam.)
  • Now after the scan is finished, browse for your webcam device ( If you can't find it, it might be marked as Others)
  • Now once you've found your webcam device, click the download button to start downloading the driver. ( I'm not sure if it will find the driver for your device just try to download it first )
  • Now once the download is finished, click the install button beside the download button to install the downloaded driver.
  • After installing I suggest that you restart your computer before doing anything.
  • Do not remove the webcam while you restart.
  • Now once your PC has rebooted, try using your webcam and it should working by that time.
Goodluck, Hope my solution will help you. Please give me feedback if my solution worked for you, and if what option worked for you. thanks.

Thank you for using Fixya!Have a great day. =)

If its a dark screen what you can see then you can do one thing "on the cam window under OPTIONS check/uncheck the PREVIEW option" and check if its working.
If it says "no video capture device found" then the drivers you have installed are not fully compatible with VISTA, for this you can do one thing---
1. Remove the previously installed webcam drivers, delete the installation folder from Program Files if its still there, disconnect (unplug) the webcam, reboot the system , Scan the registry using ccleaner (freeware).
2. Install the program you use to access the web cam (eg: amcap etc).
3. Now attach the webcam (be connected to the internet), when the driver installation screen pops up click "Install automatically" it will search for the system files for the drivers or go to the windows update (this works many times) if not found.

Once done & successfully installed the webcam shall work fine now.

1. If you go in the setup menu.
2. Push the right button once and scroll down to the menu that says format.
3. It will ask you if you want to erase all data.
4. Select No and everything should be fine.

I need help with my acer crystal eye webcam.

If you are using on msn you may want to try and install a newer version or if you've done that install your previous version.
If this does not work you can uninstall your camera restart
and it should pick up your cam and install it for you.Otherwise you'll need to reinstall it.

Will not startup with windows vista

My Veo Stingray works with Vista Ultimate just fine.

How I did mine:

Search for and find on the net (like I did once upon a time) a file named:

"veo_330V_v002"

Install it- Mine wouldnt finish install (95%) because of ".DLL load failer"

Once rebooted- when the system tried to install driver auto. I just browsed to the "c:\program files\veo stingray\drivers folder (created) and it installed and works now.

Hope this helps.
