Hi, I have a DS Lite bought in Singapore, brand new boxed & sealed. I've charged up the battery & gone over the start up wizard, name, date time etc, however when you are prompted to re-boot to save the settings, it just returns to the set up screen. Also the touch screen appears to freeze on the date screen? Any suggestions?

Re: new ds lite will not save initial settings
Either the battery has stopped functioning properly and needs replacing, or one of the battery terminal connecters has become loose and needs to be replaced with a new battery terminal (as the battery acts as a lithium battery found in a pc to save the bios settings), but they are quite difficult to desolder and reapply, best bet is to probably get another mobo. Touch screen ribbon cable could have worked loose and needs tweaking or the connector is faulty and again needs to be replaced.

It could mean that the Motherboard (Main Circuit) could be damaged or could be a fuse problem as you may have said. Although it actually might be the battery, there's one way to find out, if your friend has a DS Lite, ask them if you could borrow your battery for 2 seconds and put their battery in yours to see if it is the battery, if the same thing happens, its the Motherboard (Main Circuit)
sue it could be the way the battery responds to our power usa puts out 30 v more through the wall then the west
you could buy a american battery its possible that there batteries dont last as long
see if it works
It might be a defective battery. Try putting the new battery in a DS lite that you know works. If the other DS works with its own battery, but doesn't with with your battery, then your battery is most likely defective.
Or you could take the battery out of a good DS that turns on and can do everything, and put it in your DS. If your DS still doesn't work, even with the other DS's battery, then your DS might be broken.
As Bob (HowlingMad) said, the Ds and Ds Lite will turn off immediately after being turned on if the connection to the top screen is broken.
Check the connections between the screen and Ds, if they look damaged then try replacing the ribbon cable for the top screen (or you may have to replace the whole screen - i'm not sure if it is built together on the Ds Lite). If the connections appear fine then it may be that due to the movement the connector has come out of it's socket/plug (also like Bob said), this is easily fixable if this is the case and would require you to take the casing off your Ds and plug it back in.
