Question about Kenmore Elite HE4 Electric Dryer
Our Kenmore Elite Dryer is nine years old and was close to finishing a load of clothes when it suddenly became very very hot to the touch and the final cycle stopped. The dyer now will not restart. The electrical panel breaker did not pop and the dryer vent and lint screen area are clear and unrestricted. The service information points to a "Thermal Cut-Off" as a potential problem. Where is this located and can a DIY person handle this repair? Could this problem be something other than the "Thermal Cut-Off". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks... Perplexed Jake
Yes, a DIY person can replace a thermal cutoff. just open the rear of the unit and look for parts with big red wires connected to it. it is round, one small and one big. both have two terminal clips.
if you can find the schematics inside the switch panel, then it would help you further. the thermal cutoff consist of two pc. replace both even one of them has continuity.
