Screen shows scanner failure What is wrong?
Scanner failure occurs when the scanning module (especially the scanning bulb) has got a serious issue or is damaged. This may be caused due to a power surge.
First, make sure the allinone is connected to the wall outlet as sometimes surge protectors or other devices may fail to deliver appropriate power to the printer.
Now, while the printer is ON, unplug the power cable from the printer and wait for a min and then plug it back, repeat the process for 2-3 times.
The following procedure is used to reset the allinone to its factory defaults.
Turn on the product.
Remove the power cord from the product
Press and hold the
#
and
6
buttons
While holding the buttons down, connect the power cord to the product.
Continue to hold the buttons down until the color graphics display becomes blank, then release the buttons.
Use the
On
button to turn on the product. The reset information appears on the color graphics display.
Now try scanning, and if the issue persists, u will get a replacement if your product is still in warranty period.
all the best
If the scanner Fails it will give this message, Try the steps bellow to check if it can be cleared.
Remove both the ink cartridges from the All-In-One.
Unplug the power cord from the All-In-One as well as the power outlet.
Now move the carriage (carriage is the one which holds the cartridge) Too and Fro till you feel the carriage is moving smoothly.
Then insert the cartridges close the access door.
Plug the power cord directly to a wall outlet without surg protector.
Before connecting the power cord to the All-In-One press and hold the # and no 6 button and then insert the power cord, do not release the keys
until you see a message a reset (if the screen goes blank then release the keys and turn the power on)
Now try printing a test page or make a copy
If it still makes a loud noise and the message comes up as scanner failure, then either the scanner or the scanner machanisum is bad, you may have to replace the unit

I am having a simlar problem with my 6110. When I power up the unit, it goes thru the normal intialization, then when it starts moving the scanner unit, it gets all the way to it's "home" position and the acts like it is still trying to step over some more. You can hear the belt slipping on the gear as it tries to continue running to the right hand side of the unit. Any ideas? Or is it time for a new unit?
