Hp pocket media drive 160GB

Hi, trying to install my drive, but as soon as i connect it to the usb on my laptop a blue screen comes off telling me that windows has shut down so no problems arise......so i cant even begin to go to windows explorer to try and set it up.

alternatively if i try connect it through a usb hub, a ballon comes up on my taskbar right hand side saying their is a power overload and its not recognising the drive???

any ideas??

Connect to a Computer

You can wirelessly connect to your personal computer using an infrared connection.
You can physically connect your iPAQ Pocket PC to your personal computer using Microsoft ActiveSync and a USB cable.
You must have Microsoft Outlook to operate your iPAQ Pocket PC using Microsoft ActiveSync on your computer. If you do not have Outlook, install the Microsoft Outlook software from the HP iPAQ Pocket PC Companion CD.

Microsoft Outlook Express will not work with the iPAQ Pocket PC and ActiveSync.

I get blue screens often when trying to install software. Solution suggests that BIOS should be updated but I have already done this to version 3.15

please clarify what the blue screen stop errors are if you have ANY usb devices plugged in that could be it. if you are trying to install via a usb dvd drive try installing it to a different usb. also go to start, run type msconfig and shut off anything under start up that is not needed then reboot. also try installing in safe mode. after bios boot hit f8. please let me know if this helps! contact me back with the stop error if it doesnt.

What personal media drive will fit the HP m 1190n media bay. Will any fit or are they part number specific? Thank you

Not sure what you mean by personal media player.

1) If its an Ipod or any MP3 player, you should be able to connect any via a USB cable, or directly plugged in.

2) if you mean CD or DVD drive/player like the one that came with it, they're generic, any with the correct interface (IDE or SATA) Though I think SATA in this case.

Here's a URL with the full specification of your system to help:-

If you mean the "personal media bay" listed here, I think were back to a generice CD/DVD drive.

Computer problem

Hi shattagri343,
Try to put the installation cd as soon as the system boots, then only it will recognize it and go for installation. The black screen would appear if the previous Operating System files are corrupted.

Please leave me comment, if you need further assistance

good luck with your fix.
have a nice day.
