Webcam not working on laptop it says its been used by another person

the software you are used that either not reconised webcam you can check option from software to confiure your webcam to be used proper and it should be in broadcast mode so all other can see it

After successful installation of your webcam drivers, you can just open your my computer and at the bottom you'll have the webcam listed.
Just double click and you'll be able to use it.
or
If you dont find the webcam option in my computer, then go to my programs and search for your webcam program and from there you can get the webcam working it for you.

I have had a look around, lots of people are having the same problem. Some say the vista driver works for them, others say deleting all the drivers for the webcam, then letting win7 find the drivers on the internet worked for them.

Well i have a Advent Roma laptop and a built in webcam it dont work on MSN i click the next persons webcam sign and video call comes up and my webcam dont work i want to know how i can work it ?

Go to Start->Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager. Here locate your webcam, select it and delete it. Now disconnect the webcam from the laptop. Reboot. Insert the Logitech CD and install the drivers afresh. Reboot. Connect the webcam and allow Windows to detect it and load its drivers. Windows will take a long time to do this. Now configure the Instant manager to use this webcam as default camera. And start using. But before you do that start the webcam program to use this camera to check if it takes the video continuously. I do not see any problems now. Trick with Logitech is to load drivers with the device disconnected.

The other person might not have a microphone installed?

Its not due to the laptop, the other person is viewing you on the internet (Yahoo/Msn etc) so the Video might get frozen sometimes or may be a lot many times depending on the bandwidth or the server load.

The voice is due to the microphone you are using, you can use microphone with noise reduction technology with some noise reduction utility.

This sounds like a USB issue. Not all USB ports on laptops are created equal (they should be but they are not) some usb ports supply enough voltage and current to run usb items properly and some dont. It is always better to run direct from the computer / laptops ports .

If you cant do this then use a HUB but make sure the HUB HAS IT"S OWN POWER SUPPLY !

Also make sure you always use the same port and swapping them around does not always work for all hardware.

Is this the first time you use your webcam wtih this yahoo? Select the person you want to have video conference with,under "actions" select "invite to view my cam" your cam will automatically start. If that doesn't work, let me know.

i would try to uninstall and reinstall your messenger software. restart after uninstall.

If it still fails, try to download the newest drivers for your webcam.

and also check if your webcam works with another messenging program like skype or msn messenger... your firewall on your PC could be blocking the webcam data stream
