Question about GPS
Install directly on to C disk not into program files - it should help.

I had the common problem of trying to install TomTom Home 22.214.171.1241 on Windows Vista Home Premium and received the error "TomTomHomeRunTime.exe failed with error 0" when tring to start the application. I tried various combinations of re-downloading, re-installing, uninstalling/re-booting/re-installing and gave up. After reading various forums on the internet I came across the suggestion of installing to a different location on the hard drive instead of the default location of "C:\Program Files\TomTom Home 2". I changed the path to "C:\TomTom Home 2" during installation and the application started straight away. I suspect this is a registry problem and changing the path allowed the app to find the right files and registry settings.

Yep - confirmed with someone else's post. Installing the software onto the c :\ folder not into C:\program files\ resolved the issue!!. Amazing!!

The solution, simply right click the program icon on the start menu click on compatability and selected run in compatability mode for windows xp service pack 2 click apply then ok

OK, I have solved this problem on my own computer! I unistalled the Ver 2.7 Home then cleaned out any files/directories with the name Tomtomhome or TomTom. Then I rebooted. Then I reinstalled the new version of Tomtomhome but this time, instead of checking the box that asks if you want to launch Tomtomhome I DID NOT! When I then tried to launch from START/ALL PROGRAMS, it did something different than any other install. It was midnight so I left it running and when I awoke....I had a Contratulations window open. I then launched TomTomHome and voila! It worked.
So, I believe that if you uncheck the launch button...and then let it run for hours if need be...that's what solved it for me!
