I notice the same thing with my 62" after several years -- the problem was dust on the inside if the screen. Take it off (have someone help you - it's big and bulky) and carefully clean the dust and also in my case cobwebs from inside the encluse - this made a huge difference for me in picture brightness and clarity.
Is there any instructions in the owners guide as to how to take off screen. If not how is this done.
First off I'm not a service tech so use caution and good judgement if you want to attempt yourself. That said, it's not that complicated to remove the screen for cleaning. I was able to obtain a PDF service manual that displays the schematic which helps. I don't recall if I downloaded this from Mitsubishi or paid separately.
1) Remove the front grill
2) There is a bracket along the bottom of the screen which clamp it to the frame. Remove those screws.
3) Get at least one other person to help, remove the screen, as I recall you have to lift it up.
4) Clean inner surfaces with care.
Found the manual:
Remove front speaker grill
Remove the screws to remove the center front cover
Remove the screws on the upper back cover (4 across the top 3 on each side)
Remove the screws on the front bottom of the screen assembly
Unplug the connector LN from the control panel
Lift the screen assembly slightly upward and pull forward to remove
-- It's not that complicated, take your time. If yours as dirty as mine, you'll be very pleased when you put it back together with how much brighter it is now.
