Inside the fridge on back wall ice will build up then it begins leaking and forms a puddle in the fridge. How do I fix it?

There is a hose from the evaporator coil in the freezer tray to the bottom condensation tray, check this for obstruction.

Turned whirlpool fridge freezer off to get ice off the cooling element in the freezer.turns it back on and wont restart.why isn't it turning back on?

if you chipped the ice off, rather than letting it thaw naturally, there is a chance you punctured the element and the gas has escaped.. rendering the element useless... sensors will prevent the appliance from trying to cool unpressurised cooling ring.

Water leaks at bottom of fridge

The same thing happened to me then I noticed ice had formed at the bottom of our fridge. It was covering a drain hole so water was leaking out the front of fridge instead of going to the drain pan or wherever the hole goes. After I chipped out the ice and cleared the hole with warm water the leak stopped. I also fixed another leak coming from bottom of fridge caused by a loose brass connection on water line going to the door.

Cu2026 not making much ice

Sometimes the water inlet gets clogged. This happens a lot if u are using well water. Take the water line loose from back of fridge. fold the tube to stop water from leaking on floor if it is a plastic tube. have a bucket handy and put line in bucket let the water flow. It should come hard and fast. If not go to water valve where it pirces the main water line. check the hole and make sure it is large enough to supply the water. I had to take a drill bit and make the hole a little larger. That fixed mine. If that is not the problem then I would replace water inlet valve on the fridge.

My refrigeratro makes a knocking noise and it is getting more frequent and louder. What causes this?

The knocking noise will be from the compressor in the back of the fridge. It is a (typically) black object a little smaller than a soccer ball, situated at the bottom of the unit in the rear). It will have pipes connecting it to the hear exchanger (a black radiator that covers most of the rear of the fridge). The knocking will happen when the fridge is in a cooling cycle and the compressor is running.

There are 2 reasons for the compressor to "knock":

1) It is positioned on rubber mounts and one of these may have become dislodged if the fridge was moved recently. Or one or more of the mounts may be worn, or the compressor may have been slightly moved by something and is knocking on another component or the chassis of the fridge. It may be simple enough to check this out and move the compressor on its mountings slightly to aviod the knocking.

2) Far worse, the knocking may be from an internal component in the compressor. Sadly, this is a sealed unit and while it is possible for a professional to replace the compressor and then re-gas the fridge (Re-fill the coolant gas that will escape when the compressor is removed), the cost of doinf this will probably mean that the fridge is beyond economical repair.

Hotpoint fridge freezer icing up freezer and fridge does not work

Does your model have independent thermostats for the fridge & freezer???

If not, could be that you will need to change the Thermostat.
These are not expensive - around £10 if you buy on the Internet.
Easy to fit yourself...just turn off the power, remove the power plug from the wall, then unscrew the 'stat unit from inside near the top of the fridge (some are attached to the interior light) and remove the screw holding the thermostat tube to the rear wall.
Often the thermostat gets a small hole somewhere in the long tube, which then lets all the gas escape, making the stat useless.
You can see these small holes in the pipe if you use a magnifying eyeglass, like the kind Jewellers use.

I'm sorry to have to tell you that this sounds like a very expensive fault to fix!
Either your fridge/freezer has degassed (lost the refridgerant gas) through a small leak in the pipe system behind or inside the freezer compartment, OR the compressor (what you called the motor) has started to fail.
Either way, these are very expensive repair jobs. It's possible to replace the compressor within about an hour, but if your model is out of guarantee, there will be around a £50/60 Call-out charge and the compressor will cost between £75 and £150 depending on the model.
Alternatively, if the fridge/freezer has lost gas, the engineer would have to try to find the leak - this could be IMPOSSIBLE if the leak is within the pipework inside the back of the fridge or above/below the freezer compartment.
I'm sorry to say that it's looking like you may have to part with a lot of money - or say goodbye to the fridge/freezer you have!

The hole at the back of fridge is not letting water go down so i have puddles of water running to front of fridge have tried cleaning out but just the same

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

Hi!i made a hole in my fridge(trying to take out the ice)and immediately there was a gas leak.can that be fixed or do i need to buy a new one? please help.thanks. jo

so sorry, but the repair will cost more than the price of a new fridge, judgeing by the age of the fridge, it's time for a new one. they don't make them like that anymore, that was a common problem back then.
