There must be more than one board that is bad. Retail pricing for the replacement boards run between $300-$800. Evein including labor, that should not be more than $1200-$1500 at worse. Realize that the servicer does not pay retail for the parts either. It can not e the panel as that would exceed $4000 for the part alone. What is the problem with the set?

We have a Panasonic TV - Model TH-37PX60U (purchased 08/2006) that makes a "chirping" type noise periodically - sort of comes and goes. Any idea what this might be? Thanks, Mike G Pinellas Park,...

Sometimes that "chirping" is caused by loose windings on various transformers. You can usually isolate a particular transformer by pressing on it when it is "chirping" & it may stop "chirping" or the frequency my change. If that is the cause, you can A: replace the coil, B: replace the Printed Circuit Board, or C: Do nothing as it really isn't hurting anything but your nerves.

My Panasonic Plasma tv has been diagnosed as needing an "A" board replaced. The sound went out on this model number TH-42PX80U. Is that something I can do myself or is soldering required?

You can easily do that yourself. Just leave the tv unplugged overnight and then get it open...find the A board and just take out screws and then replace with the new board. Super easy!

Thank you and best of luck!

A PCB Printed circuit board is every single board in your TV. That is what PCB stands for Printed Circuit Board.

TH-42PZ80U Panasonic Plasma, red light flashes 10 times

Panasonic said "A" board,
A board SOS Detect (Explanation)
10 Blinks SOS: The voltage regulators IC5400 and IC5401 in the A board generate SUB9V and SUB5V. The 9V and 5V from these ICs are monitored by IC1100. Any abnormality on the SUB9V or SUB5V lines, triggers the shutdown circuit and the MPU shuts down the unit. The power LED blinks 10 times.

But need to measure the connection SC2, if it short, it will be the SC board.

The knowledge obtain from: Real case of repair by myself.
Information from Panasonic training manual.

I have a Panasonic TH-42PZ70BA Plasma TV. Went to switch it on & it cut off instantly with the power button flashig red. Tried unplugging and leaving but still the same

With the information given here it seems that there is a power supply issue and the TV needs service in the power section or power supply section of the TV.
There is a protection circuit that will not power the unit if there is a voltage overload in the primary section of the power on circuit. This is a warning that something in the circuit is not voltage or current correct and has halted operation.
You need a service tech to diagnose the issue.

Panasonic plasma TV model TH-42PD60U won't turn on

I had this problem in 2007 / 2008 here is what happened to me. Jan 09, 2008 - I also have brought the unit to the authorized Panasonic repair facility and the problem is a failure in the P-board which is the power supply board. The P-board needs to be replaced. The repair will cost $475 plus tax. $250 is for labor. The unit was nop more than two months out of warranty. This does not speak well for Panasonic. I have been researching the problem and it looks like this has happened to many of the Panasonic plasma TVs.
Jun 14, 2008 - As an update to my problem with the failed P board. Contacted Panasonic Service and talked to a customer service representative. I told them how I have purchased many Panasonic products and how unhappy I was with the failure of the product. They proposed paying the labor cost of $250 and I would pay for the part. I just hope it does not happen again.

I have the same problem Panasonic Plasma TV wont come.

Alot of times capacitors on the power supply circuit board will go bad. They will bulge/dome or dry up which will cause this problem. Bad caps dont hold a charge, which is needed to maintain a voltage. The circuit board is two sided which makes replacing the caps difficult, and the board can be damaged and have to be replaced. Taking it to a repair shop may be cheeper and safer then doing it yourself. Having two-six caps replaced is a lot cheeper then a new board.

My panasonic plasma tv model number th-42px77u won't turn on

Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. It's possible that it maybe a bad capacitor or transformer on the power supply board. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.
But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet.

If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
If not under warranty and If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists. Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.

I hope I shed some light on the subject for you.
