The clock of Compaq Evo N610c (series 2040) stops when the laptop is switched off. Already changed the little button battery but that is no solution. Is there another battery hidden somewhere?

    Would be grateful for help,

    Regards Roel

Windows wouldn't validate after replacing the RTC battery, it said that time on the laptop was too far off real time (allthough it was perfectly on time). Also synchronizing time in windows with server was not possible (due to too big difference in time). There's no setting in bios for time, but somewhere it is stored. I installed windows 3 times fresh!
Finally I put on the Atomic clock and I could synchonise time! Moreover Windows could finally validate.
I would like to know the 'real' solution, eg. what did Atomic clock do & why Windows synchronisation failed (Itried 2 timeservers).

I hope this works for all the time issues on the Compaq n610c.

The ram has nothing do with the clock of your computer, for this set the time on bios, then save it and exit it, boot your laptop, check the correct time zone of your area

I need the User Manual for free for the Compaq Evo N610C..... How can you help me with this?

I can help you with your problem by giving you a direct link to the Manuals download page for the Compaq Evo N610C, sachsr.

This is HP Support, and the Manuals page for the Compaq Evo N610C Notebook PC,

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManual&lang=en&cc=us&docIndexId=64179&taskId=101&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=316664

If you click on the first file listed under the General Reference heading,

Compaq Evo N610c Series Getting Started,

,you will have a User Manual.

This manual is in PDF file form. The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which utilizes PDF files.

After you click on the above link, it may take up to 30 seconds before the first page of the manual pops up. (Only took approximately 12 seconds for me just now)

It may also take additional time for the file to fully download.

If you scroll down the page to the - Service and maintenance information - heading, and click on the last file listed you will have a Service Manual.

[Maintenance and Service Guide: Compaq Evo Notebook N610c Series, Compaq Evo Notebook N610c Series, and Compaq Evo Notebook N600c Series. (30 Jul 2007) ]

Humm... Load windows right click the time in the bottom corner and set you time and press ok when done. then click anywhere on your desktop and press and hold F5 for a few secs. and then restart comp. I did this to a desktop and it did the samething as your problem and now it works. It was a 2007 HP pavilion desktop. you can also try scandisk and diskdefragment, may help that out to. If still didn't work go into your computers bios and set the time there.
