The SD slot of the camera got damage somehow. The SD slot contains thin copper prongs that locks the card in place and comes in contact with the surface of the card. If these prongs are damaged, then it cause a read failure of the camera.

Difficulty formatting new memory card for a Kodak Easy Share DX7440

The DX7440 works with MMC and SD cards, which max out at 2GB. While your 4GB SDHC card fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work with this camera. You need to stay with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

How do i format my sandisk in my panasonic lumix FX40

Hello :

1: Insert the SD card into the multi-card reader on your computer. Most newer personal computers and laptops come with a multi-card reader. If you don't have one , then you should get one ! Just make certain that you insert the SD card into the appropriate slot. A multi-card reader picture is shown : There another types of multi-card reader , so you can choose the best one for you .b74156b.jpg
2: Right click once on the Windows "Start" button.

3: Click once on the "Explore" option.

4: Find the SD card in the "Folders" section of the window.

5: Right-click once on the SD card icon.

6: Click once on the "Format" option.

7: Make any desired changes using the options on the "Format" window. Default options are recommended, but it is possible to change the file system and allocation unit size. If you change any of these settings and want to change back, click once on "restore device defaults." To perform a quick format, click once in the "Quick Format" box. A quick format means only that all files will be removed from the SD card, but it will not be checked for bad sectors. A quick format is considerably faster than a full format, but neither takes too long.

8:
Click once on the "Start" button on the "Format" window to begin the formatting process. A warning window will pop up to make certain you want to proceed with the formatting of the SD card. Click one on the "Yes" button to move on.

9:
Click once on the "OK" button on the "Formatting" window that pops up when the formatting is complete.

10:
Click once on the "Close" button on the "Format" window to exit the formatting process.

good luck .

Eos 40d error 99

Error 99 can mean many things. Have you installed the latest firmware for the camera (version 1.1.1)? If you don't have, download it here (for equipment purchased in USA or Puerto Rico):

http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eosd/eos40d/eos40d-firmware-e.html

If you have the latest firmware, try this:

  1. Switch off the camera and remove the CF card and battery
  2. Keep the camera idle for 30 min
  3. Clean all the contacts of the camera (battery contacts, lens contacts etc) with an eraser. Do this keeping the camera facing down so that no debris fall into the camera.
  4. Attach the lens and insert the battery.
  5. Switch on the camera
  6. Insert the CF card
  7. If the error persists, format the card again
  8. If this does not work, try using another CF card.
