Denon AVR-3805 7.1 Channels Receiver

Have checked Denon 3805 diagrams but not sure about...

New equipment and as others have posted, we aren't real good at this... Have Denon 3805, Digital cable tv, DVD, and speakers 2 fronts, 1 center, 2 rears and sub. Goal is best hookup for optical and audio possible. Denon manual has diagram, but throws in a vcr to the mix, and there isn't anything about the digital cable box. How do I connect these? Thanks.

Connect DVD video to tv using component cables. Connect DVD audio to receiver using digital optical or coaxial cable. Connect digital cable box video to tv using S-video cable. Connect box audio to receiver using digital optical or coaxial cable. As an option you can run analog audio cables (the red and white ones, usually) from the DVD and box to audio jacks corresponding to video connections on tv. This will allow you to listen to those sources through the tv speakers without turning on your receiver. Connect speakers to receiver designated jacks. You're done with hook up.
