Question about Morphy Richards 44778 4-Slice Toaster
Cannot see how to dismantle this item, requires clean, minor adjustment, the hold down lock sometimes does not hold
I have the 44280 2-slice version and had similar problems. To dismantle, unscrew the two star-shaped screw heads which hold the retaining slides in place. I don't have a star socket (female), only the usual male, so I used a pair of pliers. Pull out the two chrome slides. Pull off the two knobs also using pliers. Remove the outer casing with care as there are two fine wires attached. Now you can see the problem - probably a broken or lost nylon retaining catch on the electromagnet, and probably unobtainable by an individual. At this stage I decided to buy a new toaster!
