There's no drain on the bottom of the tank on these, and the fuel pump and level sensor assembly is a real ****** to reinstall because of the way the o-ring is designed. It sounds like there's a good chance you've got water in the tank, though, and you want to get that out of there pronto; there are various steel lines and such which will corrode and start shedding rust flakes if you don't. If the tank is full, this is not really practical to attempt without a transmission jack, so you'll need to siphon the gas out first. Get a replacement fuel pump module o-ring FROM THE DEALER to make the reinstall easier, even if you are replacing the pump. Dropping the tank when it's nearly empty is no big deal; any of the repair manuals can step you through that. You won't get all of the water (and other crud, if there is any) out of the tank without doing this, though. When you reinstall the pump module, use some grease or vaseline to stick the o-ring into place on the tank, and then get a helper to hold the flange of the module up against the inside of the retainer collar while you get the collar started onto the threads and tighten it down. This will give you the best chance of getting the o-ring to stay in place, in my experience. If the o-ring is just a trifle small and won't slip down into the groove on the tank, stretch it a bit and it should be more cooperative. The aftermarket ones tend to be a bit too big, and there's not much you can do to get them to work.

Car idles little rough but when put in gear really starts running lot rougher like wants cut out seam to start doing this after I typed off fuel tank

hate to tell you this but sounds like you filled up with bad gas , gas contains methanol , and ethanol both of these are types of alcohol , alcohol absorbs moisture (water) at a rate of 1oz per hour depending on the percentage of alcohol in the fuel or octane rating if the fuel sits in the tank at a station the longer it sits the badder it gets, to fix this you can do a few things, you can go to a local parts store purchase a fuel filter, and a good octane booster and fuel additive, pour both the fuel additive and booster in the tank and change your fuel filter after you burn that tank of gas.or you can find a repair shop that uses a decarbonization process to clean your fuel system, unless your vehicle is running bad enough where you can't drive it, then you need to drain your tank take it out of the car clean it out with rags and put fresh fuel back in it also replacing the fuel filter

I need to drain all of the fuel out of my 2000 VW Beetle. What is the easiest way to do this? I suspect the fuel has gone bad as it has been in the gas tank over 1 year. The car will not idol correctly...

add some sea foam to the tank with a bottle of octain( found at all part stores. then let it sit for a few hour. next run the tank almost empty, replace the fuel filter if accessible then top the tank off with new fuel. no real need to drop the tank and empty it,

I have a 1998 Dodge Caravan. I got a "tune up" approx. 2 weeks ago with new spark plugs, fuel filter & air filter. It did fine driving around town & on a 130 mile trip. I filled up with...

Sounds like you got a tank of bad gas. That would easily cause your issues. Start by draining as much as you can, put a can of Seafoam in there, add a few gallons of fresh gas, drive to the gas station and tank up, and run that tank down until your gas light comes on before adding more. You may end up needing a fuel filter or plugs again, but with minimal run time on the bad gas, you'll probably be fine.

2000 nissan quest: Ran out of gas will not start.... no spark from sprk wire????????? help before i get charged by service station at $90.00 an hour....Thank You

Not a professional, but what i would do is...if you filled the tank up again.....get someone to turn the key a head (don"t start it) just a head to when the radio comes on .....when they do it a few times(a head and back to off) stand back by the fuel tank (gas cap area) and listen for the pump to cut in! It should only cut in for a few secs. If no sound, you may have burned out the pump...it could have sucked up dirt and burned out! Thats my guess!

Good luck!

Water taken in gas at pump !first 25 mi sound as engine was throwing a rod. now missing and will not idle. Has been confirmed by station. 2002 montana (200+ mi) WHAT CORRECTIVE NEEDED!

The injectors,or injector, most likely has been damaged, have them all replaced, and the tank drained and cleaned to be safe, the station should take care of this.

On the 91 tracker i told you about the head in new the head gasket is new and all new parts

i have seen many different things do this but the most likely culprit is a bad gas station
most stations have water in there fuel but some have more than others

run the fuel tank real low like almost empty then add some gas line antifreze to soak up tthe excess water in tank then fill up at chain gas station like chevron

large gas stations have strict guide lines for how much water to fuel they are allowe to have in there tanks this is why from time to time you will see a gas station closed for renovations but there is little or no work going on inside it is out at the pumps
since they drain the tanks and slean the pumps out then re fill the tanks and need to prime the pumps

little stations are notorious for pumping water since they arent watched so closely like the chain stations

also if you know a bussy station shop there as they are less likely to have water since they have a high turn over of fuel and there tanks are allways geting run down

likely it is water in the fuel

gasline antifreze better knowen as Isopropyl alcohol it will combine with water and draw it out of your tank

i hope you drained the ENTIRE fuel system because the feed lines from your tank and the carb float bowl will have contaminated gas as well
