just buy one of those cheap microphones for your laptop from pound store plug it into pc then right click on the sound icon on your desktop select properties in there you will find an option for recording there is also a wizard to help you set it up hope this helps
In WIN XP there's a Sound icon in the System Tray for Volume (double-click), or you might find it in Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices - Volume Tab - Advance - click the Mute box for Microphone.
Or something similar on whatever platform/OS you're using.
1-adjust the overall volume by pressing fn+f 5 hotkeys 2-adjust sliding mixer controls by doubleclicking the speaker icon 3-disconnect the headphone jack to enable check of internel speaker.4-confirm that microphone plug is proper connected to mono mic jack.5-confirm that microphone is selected as recording source in control panel----multimedia and recording level is adjusted. confirm that sound source is selected in control panel----multimedia confirm that headphone connector connected in right postion
Double click on the little speaker icon on the Desktop toolbar at the bottom right of your screen. The volume control window will open. Click on options then properties. Next check the small round recording button. Now make sure he microphone box is checked then click ok. Now a window will open that will show your microphone recording level. Move the slider up about half way and make sure to check the small "Select" box near the bottom of the slider. Open up sound recorder or whatever application you are using and try to record. I hope this has been helpful.
