Question about Hoover F5866-900 SteamVac Deluxe Wet/Dry Vacuum

Open Question

The dirty water reservoir is not sucking up...instead air is blowing from bottom of machine near brushes. Checked and made sure the dirty water reservoir gasket was sealed. Why would it be blowing, rather than sucking? This is the second time we have used the machine-1st time it worked fine.

SOURCE: Dysin vacuum blows air instead of sucking it!

If it is blowing air, then it is still clogged up somewhere, you didn't give your model number, but some of these have removable covers on each side and on the back. Also make sure that all covers are back on securely.

SOURCE: Dysin vacuum blows air instead of sucking it!

Dysons aren't supposed to clog up, but they do. There a number of ports you can open to see if there are clogs in any of them. Usually a clog is why it will blow air and debris out instead of sucking. You just need to find it.

SOURCE: steam vac will not pick up dirty water

My Hoover Steamvac problem isn't with the bruches--it's with the suction. Dirty soapy water stays in the carpet instead of being returned to one of the holding tanks.

My vacuum blows air instead

My vacuum blows air instead of sucking air. I have a dirt devil swivel guide. I got something stuck in the brush spinner, got it out...but now the vacuum doesn’t **** stuff up anymore.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Normally if your vacuum has a round belt you may have your belt on backwards, please reverse the belt and the suction will return also you may have a clog in the tube leading up to the bag or dirt cup would be anther reason for the blowing instead of suction. This is not covered under the factory warranty. Feel free to contact your local vacuum dealer for questions.
So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

SOURCE: steam vac will not pick up dirty water

I have the same problem with mine. Unfortunately, the seal on the container that takes the dirty water appears to be broken already. I push it on tightly and it will work for about 2 seconds. In my opinion, this is a design flaw. I've had it less than a year.

Spinscrub loud brushes don't spin

Most models have a screen under the machine or behind one of the clear covers on the front. If the screen is clogged it will restrict the airflow.
Make sure the brushes will spin freely by hand.

I shampooed my carpet, loaded clean water twice and added the cleaning solution. Then it dawned on me, the carpet is wet and there is not dirty water return. What am I doing wrong?

Look for a place where the dirty water reservoir is not sealed. There is air being sucked in somewhere else instead of the bottom where it's supposed to **** the water.

It seems to blow air out instead of sucking up

Remove the bag on top and the plate on the bottom. Clean out the air passages, top and bottom, looking for a clog. When it seems clear, turn on the vacuum to see if air is moving through. Don't allow a full bag to remain in place Check the brush on the bottom for string, hair, or thread caught in the bristles or bearings on either end. Hope this helps!

Had the same problem only after 2 uses, called the 1 800# said that soap may have "gummed" up the line did everything they said but didn't work. Would cost more in service repair if I could find a authorized dealer to fix than I paid for the machine. Would not recommend this machine to anyone.

Blowing warm air

Is there a part missing on the front of the dirty water tank? On some of these machines, there is block that you take out so you can insert the hose in its place. So if this spot is open, then it can't suck and will be blowing warm air.

SteamVac Supreme Vacuum Problem:

Does this have the slot in front of the dirty water tank for the hose? If it does and the hose isn't installed, there is a block that you put in when the hose isn't being used. If not there, then it will blow air and won't suck up.

Vacuum Cleaner sucking dirt out of the cannister instead of into it.

You didn't give you model number, but check by the brush roll to see if the inlet there is clogged, hose still has a clog, filters are bad and need replacing. Does the brush roll turn, belts stretch after short usuage and will not drive the brush roll under load, may need to replace the belt.

Hoover will not suck carpet shampooer

the most common problem is the recovery tank. Most often the square piece of plastic that attaches to the side of the recovery tank is not snapped in-- it comes loose when you dump the tank. Take off the lid, pull the clear plastic sqare (about 4 inches by 5 ) that is attached on the OUTSIDE of the recovery tank and snap it back into place.
2nd make sure the rubber rim is clean and free of debris
3rd attach the lid with the hinges on the back first then snap down the lid
4th make sure the yellow float is down on the bottom (this is inside the filter inside the recovery tank)
5th put the recovery tank in the machine FRONT FIRST (where the two round peices of plastic are)then back, snap the sides back to lock the tank in place.
If these things dont work....make sure your not clogged with debris on the top (but I am sure you would have seen this before doing all the rest!)
