Xbox 360: how to move screen image?

Hey there!
I got a slight problem with my xbox 360. Im using RGB scart cable and
its like the image has been moved a bit to the left and it doesnt fit my television (so that the text in the left side aint showed on my television). Its not much but it annoys me. Is there any way to adjust the screen --> just move it a bit to the right?

Thanks!

Im just using a standard crt tv

  • Clement Olesen Sep 29, 2008

Nop its a 21 inch panasonic. I've never had any problems with consoles before.

But as far as I remember you could adjust the display on the old xbox? Move it up n down, left n right.

Well assassin's creed is prolly the most powerconsuming game Ive played. And no it's not choppy at all, framrate is just as stable as on my mates HD Lcd tv. Sorry to tell you but crysis is pc only :D

We compared image quality on our televisions the other day. I thought the differense would be astonishing but tbh I would rather play on my tv than his hehe when comparing prices etc. Assass Creed still looks fooking amazing. But there was some differense in color quality. The standard scart cable that you are issued when buying the console is a pile of ****, all edges n image quality are smooth with an RGB cable. Maybe I should plug the standard cable to my tv and check if the image is still moved a bit to the left.

    r u using a sony wega.

  • subho Sep 29, 2008

sorry to tll u that consoles like x box 360 ps3 are very high end gaming consoles and to get proper display it should be connected to a lcd tv through a hdmi cable.because the game which comes for this consoles are generally optimized to be played in a high defination television through a hdmi cable.if u connect it to a hd lcd tv then u will get much richer graphics and pictures.old consoles like xbox ps2 are meant to be played on a standard tv therefore u didnot have any problem.therefore to get proper display buy a high defination lcd tv.hey im want to ask u something does the games which run on xbox 360 run very smoothly or chopply frame by frame.have u played and powerful ghame such as crysis on ur console does it run smoothly

Bought a new scart lead for my x box 360 as old one broke. X-box was ok until scart broke(pin on the yellow end snapped). So bought a new lead and now the picture is 50/50 as to wether it will come up....

It is important for you to know that the xbox 360 is a very sensitive and high-tech machine. One of the factors that contribute to this is the fact that it is produced by a company that deals mainly on computers so many of the xbox 360 that were produced did not really have the exact same components but similar ones that could carry out practically the same job. This fact being noted, i think it is time i get to your problem fully.
There are different possible causes of this problem. It may range from a bad SCART cable or to a non-compatibility in the cable and the console's motherboard. Due to the little differences that might have occurred while the console was being produced, it is very possible that this cable would work perfectly on one console and refuse to work perfectly on another similar console.
It is advised that you try to connect the cable with another console and see if it does the same thing and then you can be sure that the cable is faulty. Also, you can try another cable which you are sure is not faulty and see if that helps too.
After that is done, you might want to reset your console so as to see if that would help you perform a sort of auto-calibration for the video settings.
To reset Xbox 360 console display settings
  1. If there is a disc in the console, remove it.
  2. Turn off the console.
  3. Turn on the console by using your controller. To do this, press and hold the controller's Xbox Guide button until your console turns on.

Note If multiple controllers are connected to your console, make sure that you use the player one controller. You can recognize the player one controller because the upper-left quadrant of the Guide button is lit up on that controller.

  4. While the console is starting, press and hold the Y button and pull the right trigger at the same time. Continue holding the buttons when you see the Xbox 360 logo.

    Collapse this imageExpand this imageyandtriggercontroller.jpg

The console will restart and you will see the Xbox 360 logo again.

The console's display settings are now reset to the defaults.

How to set up your xbox 360 without causing overheat

take everything out your new xbox 360 packaging. there should be:
1)a console (obvioiusly)
2) a cable that connects your 360 to a power block
3) a power block that connects your xbox to the wall
4) a cable that connects your xbox to the tv
5) a small rectangular box that connects your cable into the scart port on your tv.

lets begin
take the cable and connect it to the power block and move the power block to the side
take the scart plug (small rectangular box) and connect the yellow white and red wires into the approprite slots (these are marked out on your scart plug) and move to the side
pace your console down 90 deg. on its side in your desired position.
WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WA
do NOT place your xbox 360 standing up as this can cause red ring of death syndrome and other known xbox killers due to overheating i am on my second 360 as i never followed my own advise.if you keep your console standing straight it can cause vibrations which knock your cooling sinc out of place. it can also scratch your games more easily and ring them making them UNPLAYABLE. now place all cables you set aside and connect them into appropriate slots on the back of the console. and connect them into wall socket and tv.
thanks for reading.now wheres the free cake i was promised.

How should I hook up my xbox to the back of the television using the red, white, and yellow wires? It is hooked up but I am not getting any audio. Thank you.

First make sure your video cable is set to TV not HDTV

Then plug the 3 RCA cables into the color coded slots on the TV. Make sure you aren't using the red cable from the component RGB but are using the red cable for sound (next to the white one).

Then, if you still have no picture, start the console using the controllers Xbox button and hold "Y" and "RT" until the console restarts. this will reset the video settings on the 360 to default.

Follow this guide if you get confused:

and for the video reset about halfway down the page:

My xbox 360 will start up and has sound but no picture

First try removing any accessories (for eg HD drive, hard drive or network adaptor) from the console and turn on 360. Plug each device back in one by one and turn on to check which device possibly causing the problem.

You should also try using another 360 AV cable sometimes this is the culprit.

If the above methods made no difference then the Xbox 360 might be overheating and which will eventually lead to RROD (Red Ring Of Death - 3 red ligthts) or E74 error message (1 red light) indicating repair.

You can buy the repair kit off ebay from £4 - £7 and carry out the repairs yourself with plenty of Youtube videos on the net just google it or if dont dont feel confident i can repair for you.

If this helps please vote...thankyou!

No sound threw hd

hey jason,
umm im just throwing suggestions out there, have you tried the sound in all of the sound ports in your tv? and if you already have all i can say is try putting the xbox 360 on another tv to see if your cables are good, if not im guessing its your tv. If you have a newer xbox 360 with a hdmi port just get one of those cables they work great as well.
