Problem for Epson DFX 5000+ Matrix Printer

printer that has a paper out problem. When I load the paper on the front tractors it will feed properly and go on line. After starting the printer, it will run for about a quarter of the page and go off line. The printer will then default to the rear tractor feed. We have replaced the paper out sensor on the front tractor feed and the TOP of form sensor which has not corrected the problem.

Epson DFX 5000 and 8000 printers have very touchy sensors. Try the tractor select sensor aswell as the paper sensors on both tractors. The interlock switches can also cause various faults. Make sure all sensors toggle properly.

I had a very similar problem on a Canon. I am unfamiliar with that Epson model # but the Canon was an ink[bubble] jet. The problem turned out to be a bad ink cartridge believe it or not.
