    Hi Schmoody68

Thanks heaps for your help. You've pretty much confirmed what I thought might be the issue. Thought can't clearly see it so maybe something has completely fallen off? We live about 50km from our service centre so I might take some macro photos of all the cover parts and email that to the tech to be sure before we get him to come all the way out here. Thanks again :) Andrea

We had a similar problem with the 2nd side cover notice displayed. We tried to find a pin that may have been missing and instead we found a small black swith inside when we pressed it the error message turned to "paper jam open second side cover"

Hi Andeawo, It sounds like while moving the copier, you may have broken or bent a door interlock switch or the door actuator that depresses that switch. On the door that showing ajar, look for a small pin (could be plastic or metal) and see if it's bent or broken. If that appears fine, slowly close the door and look for a small hole where that pin would go through and depress the interlock switch. Once located, look to see if the switch is misaligned or broken. I'm thinking that one of these 2 items is the culpret.

Been a copier tech for 12 years and have seen my share of both. Let me know what you find...

Printer wont acknowledge ink loading

Make sure you are using genuine Lexmark cartridges. Refilled cartridges won't be able to register ink levels. If you are using original supplies, it could be just a slight cartridge communication error. Try the steps below:
  1. Make sure the printer is on. Open the printer cover.
  2. The carrier should move to its loading position. Open the latch and remove the cartridges.
  3. Close the latch.
  4. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in to, and re-insert after 10 seconds.
  5. When the printer turns on, re-insert the cartridges. Close the printer cover.
  6. Check on your computer if ink level is acknowledged.
  7. Try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

Hi Just wonder if you could help me i have a lexmark x3480 it has suddenly decided to display cover open and is not switching off at the control panel. The cover is not open and sits flush what is it...

It could either be due to a stuck cover sensor or the cartridges in your printer. Please follow the steps below to fix the problem:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer/unplug the printer from the power source and then slide the carrier to the center.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Rebrick (pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.

8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.

9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge.

If problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

Error 6a00 how do i fix it?

Error 6A00 has no specific cause and no specific solution/fix. Sometimes, it's cause by Paper Jam, sometimes Waste Ink Tank Full,
sometimes Carriage Problem and still many more.

Simplest Trick: Open the front cover, pull the cartridges with the carriage and leave them somewhere on the passage, now close
the cover and turn off the printer, again turn it on. If it's not a fatal error, there'd be no more problem and no more error
displays on the screen.

First try this, open the hood (front cover), after the cartridges moved towards the other end/side, look at the other side (the
side where the cartridges were sitting before it moved to the other side). You'll see the Waste Ink Tank Pads (sponge), remove
them and clean them (they should have been soaked with ink, so use a hand-glove). Remove the pads and squeaze or wash and dry
them, after they are cleaned and dried, reinstall (re-seat) them. Now power on the printer and check again.

Secondly, (remove the cartridges before you begin) open the doors and look for paper jam or anything inside the passage and
through the paper passage. Use a blower to blow all the dust and clear them out. Now turn off the printer and leave it for few
minutes while you clean the cartridges, again switch on the printer, install the cartridges. Now see if it's still there or not.

Try turning the printer up-side down, shake it (do this while the machine is off) and again reboot it. Once again check the
status.

Push in a photo paper (or similar thicker paper) into the sheet feeder, do this several times and again reboot the printer.

If the problem even after all these are done, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Please help we are changing the toner on our copier machine and got an ERROR MESSAGE: used toner case is full.

Hi,
the waste toner box is located beneath the front cover ( the cover that has Canon and model number ).
Open toner cover and you will see one screw wich you need to remove.
Then, on left side of toner, on top of the front cover, few milimeters from edge is second screw wich you need to unscrew. Usually is covered with white/grey cork made of rubber.
then remove cover, by pulling it in left side then towards you.

Big white box is waste toner container wich you need to clean/empty it.

Hope that helped!

Hi how do i move the cartridge motor to the left hand side of the printer, to get the cartridges out? thanks

The cartridges should come to the center when you open the cover, if not, try powering up with the cover open and when they come to the center, unplug the power. If they are not moving from the right, there is an error code that needs to be repaired first.

Toner sensor error on an Oki C3520 Laser

Check the little switch/door on the right hand side of the drums.
This has worked successfully for me.

Symptom:
After replacement of a C3530 Image Drum, the message, "Toner Sensor Error" is displayed.

0.10a?openelement&fieldelemformat=gif

Cause:
The plastic shutter in the ID is fully or partially covering the toner sensor window.

Resolution:
Move the cover upward to allow for the sensor to become fully exposed prior to reinstalling the drum.

Mfc-7220 Back Cover Open

This one made me crazy, but I finally figured it out. Turn the machine around so that you are facing the back. Open the back cover. Pull down the second smaller roller cover inside the machine. If you look closely at the second smaller cover, on the right hand side (closer the the inside of the machine), is a very thin round piece of plastic that is only half the length of the smaller cover. There are 2 thin plastic tabs attached to either end of this round piece of plastic. Gently shift this over so that the 2 plastic tabs can now go into the space provided for them. I had to move mine over only 1/4 inch.
