Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

WD-52525 screen is jumping all around with wavy horizontal lines etc.

TV purchased on 2/14/2005. Had a bulb replacement in 2007. Everything has worked pretty good except for a couple times tv sound would not come on unless we powered up a second time. Today the screen just became a series of jumping horizontal lines. Can still see the picture but will almost cause a seizure to watch. Tried HMDI (worst picture) S video (Not as bad) and front input with RCA's off a different cable run and box (picture did not have lines but was was blurry with pulsating brightness) Went back to HD box to see how RCA's on front looked and they looked the same, no lines but blurry with the dim/bright screen flash about 3 times per second. Is this the dreaded capacitor issue? I did purchase the Best Buy 4 year extended warranty that is good until 2/14/2009. What do I tell them when I call (can I just get a 1500 plasma), lol?

    Service tech came today, changed lamp just to be sure. Not the problem, shop tech told him over phone that it was probably the caps. He said hopefully a week or so and they would have the boards rebuilt. Wrote a lengthy letter to Mitsubishi Customer Relations, got a response saying they tried to call buy my line was busy. My phone was only in use once all day and I have call waiting??? I replied and told them to try again.

Good Day;

Keep talking to the factory, it is their product. Best Buy won't replace unless it is deemed not repairable and/or terms of the contract. You purchased the extra warranty because you most have felt that the TV might break down. Well, it did, now use the contract to repair your TV.

This is why they can replace only the parts that need replacing and fix the set in one go.

Just because the parts are available on eBay, doesn't mean they will work, as many are pulled from scrapped televisions..

when water shorts out something it overloads a lot of other components so the best advice is to take it in for a proper diagnosis.
you just replace a board but another board is damaged it might just blow the board you replaced and that would prove nothing

The TCON board or thr LCD panel is faulty. Can confirm by replacing the TCON board.

Have a dark band horizontally across vizio tv. Appears to be a backlight, but not sure how to fix


Could be a bad CCFL lamp, if the set usess CCFL back-light system. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.
