Lost suction on bissel lift off sweeper after sweeping flea powder from carpet. Cleaned all filters and still no suction

My Bissel Lift-Off Revolution lost it's suction capabilities while in the middle of vacuuming. I emptied the filter because it was full at the time and still have no suction, but the brush is still functional. I went back to turn it on a few hours later and it was fully functional. Is this normal for the motor to over-heat and the suction to stop? The vacuum is about a year and half old, should I assume that this vacuum shouldn't last too much longer? It does get a lot of use since I own a dog. Can something simple be done to extend the life of this vacuum, since it is an expensive vacuum, I would hope it could last longer than a year and a half. Please help if you can. Thanks

My Bissell is only a couple months old. I dont' have a pet hair problem, but the vacuum has lost it's suctions and over heats/shuts off after only a few minutes. I clean both filters each time I empty the cannister. Am I missing something?

Under the red flap in the water resevoir, there is a small screen. Pop that screen out and clean it. It is probably blocked with hair. I took my entire machine apart trying to fix this problem and I finally saw that screen. I cleaned it out and my machine works like new now.

That is normal for the vacume to shut off if the motor overheats you must keep teh dirt cup clean and empty and all the filters clean, when you empty the dirt cup if you have a lot of pet hair take the hose off and make sure that it is clean as well, and do not try to pick up any of those cleaning wipes that will stop it up real quick

My carpet cleaner wont stop leaking water after cleaning and i need keep vacumning up excess water

The unit works on suction and can develop a syphon if the filters get clogged. There's 2 filters that you should be cleaning after each use. One filter is located under the Flow Inidicator: Unscrew the Flow Indicator Cap to remove it. Lift out the rotor and the filter is under it. Lift out the filter and clean. Reinstall in reverese order. If that didn't help you may want to call Bissell Consumer Care at 1-800-237-7691 Hope that helps.

My Bissel Lift-off Deep Cleaner is not taking up the water from the carpet

I try not to answer questions if I'm not positive of the answer, but I thought I'd give your question an educated guess... With a regular vacuum, if the filter is clogged, the vacuum looses suction. It makes sense, that if your Bissel is otherwise working fine... There's a good chance the filter is the problem. I hope I was of at least some help. Good luck and Merry Christmas, Bill

Hey, you may want to have your Lift-Off vacuum inspected by a qualified technician at one of our Authorized Service Centers.

Here's a link to locating one in your area.

My Bissell bagless vacuum does not seem to work anymore. It will start to with a suction and then instead of picking up the dirt, it appears to blow the dirt out almost in a cloud of dust and debris from...

this is caused by a dirty air filter and/or a blocked vacume hose ( most of the time the blockage is at the bend where the hose enters the floor sweeper area ) ---
remove and tap out and brush the filter ( or use a air compressor to blow out filter ).
then with the vacume on its side - remove the bottom plate ( like you were going to change the belt ) and use a coat hanger and clean out the hose between the floor sweeper and where the suction hoes attaches. this will restore your vacume to full operation.

While vacuuming, the unit will stop/shut down. A short time later the unit will operate again but not for much longer. All filters are clean/new.

Check your hose for a clog. It's likely there is a plug somehwere. Run it (not while vacuming the carpet) with all three filters removed. See if you get good suction. If not then look around for a plug of dirt and hair somewhere.

Bissell carpet cleaner does not have suction like it should

Try checking the lint filter. It is located in the top clear plastic section (the one with the dial to switch from floor to tool use) and is on the underside. It is a small (1 inch square) red plastic filter with a door on it. Flip open the door and it is probably clogged with hair, carpet fibre, etc.. Clean it out and you should have full suction once again.

you can wash that sponge filter by hand but you must let it dry compleatly before putting it back in the machine, I found a filter pack for the lift off vacume at walmart, make sure teh bottom filter is clean as well. the lift off vacume has 3 filters there is one filter in the tray under the dirt cup, one in the top cup, and the hepa filter in the back the 2 foam filters must be clean or you can have reduced suction, the lift off vacume I have I found thrown away because they never cleaned it outthe brush was dirty and full of strings the belt was worn, the hose under the vacume was full and stopped up the hose in the back was compleatly stopped up all filters were compleatly clogged, and the hepa filter was missing entirely. Not to insult you or anyone but i've found that a lot of people are jsut to lazy to clean their vacume out it fills up with dirt they throw it away and get a new one, i've gottten many like new vacumes for this reason, this bissell is working like brand new now. and I just replaced the belt and all filters in it saving me approx. 150.00 for a new one

There is a black ovule shaped gasket that sits between the top of the window nooze and the edge of the tank. If it is missing, then you lose suction at that point. Also is the filter on the end of the tank that sits over the square outlet clean?
