Fuji FinePix E550 Digital Camera
Problem for Fuji FinePix E550 Digital Camera

Shots are almost all white!

Camera: Finepix E550

Any pictures I try to take outside, during the day, and include some sky... usually come out almost entirely white. I tried a bunch of things like turning the exposure all the way down, adjusting the white balance... nothing seems to work. However the movie capture mode on the camera can get great results from the same shot. Here are 2 examples, the first is just a normal shot with exposure all the way down in "P" and the second is from the movie capture mode (I just saved a frame)

Anyone have anysuggestions!? My indoor shots come out great with the right settings but these outside shots are driving me crazy. I am in need of some major help.

-   I'm also experiencing over exposed outdoor photos. Indoor photos WITHOUT the flash come out fine, but if I use the flash they too will be overexposed. I love this camera, but if I can't find a solution soon I'm going to have to replace it.

-   Mind does the same and if you shoot inside the pictiure is fine except for the lines bending through it.

Exposure has to be out of wack or CCD is going-   Handymanherb

-   I have Fuji E550 SN 44A04179 with exactly the same problem. suspect CCD drift. Snow pictures or any shots with natural sunlight are streeky and blown out. Inside shots and flash are better but not as good as new.Local dealer suggest contacting Fuji New Jersey.

-   I am having the same problem. My camera takes good video in movie mode but the camera is not sensing the correct light level of the surroundings and the picture is overexposed.

I have the same model and I have the same problem... if the mettering is on SPOT and I point it to the darkest area on the picture... The camera will overexpose everything around that area in order to give the dark area the correct exposure. Try to change the mettering to Area/Center Weighted or Matrix. How are the ISO settings? For external sunny photos I put it always at 80. Good luck!

Hi,
I have the same problem with my 550 - anything taken outdoors is way over-exposed and gives me a virtually white image. Yet the indoors shots done with the flash are fine...........
Has anyone found a solution for this?

Regards,
Richard

When you say "exposure" what exactly do you mean? And what mode are you taking the images in, manual or auto?

The first image does look like there's possibly a problem with your aperture/shutter speed settings which has happened when the camera is in manual mode.

A bit more information about the camera's settings when taking the images would be useful

I have the same problem with this same model. The camera worked fine for a couple years but now the pictures are way overexposed no matter what settings I have tried.
