The itc222 has no convergence ics. they use transistors to do the same job. first determine if you have the fl231 problem listed in tip and tricks section., if you dont then it more than likely a convergence power board.

I have an RCA 52" projection screen tv, model #

This problem is a commom Convergence failure. The circuit is composed of two output IC's or chips. They will both need replaced at a cost of around $350 from most shops. If you're handy with a soldering iron you can give it a try but it is a critical circuit.

Red shadows in 48" JVC rear projection

Well you better be pretty handy with a soldering iron. The convergence output IC's need to be replaced. These are large plastic pack IC's with 18 or so pins that are soldered on the underside of the circuit board. These IC's are mounted to large metal heat sinks.

Red screen.

The IC's are bad. The parts themselves aren't expensive but the labor is. If you're at all handy with a soldering iron and willing to try, you will find a link below to a website with step by step instructions with pictures to help guide you. Otherwise, the repair costs $250-400 . Best of luck.

Sony 51 inch Projection TV.

Dear AJ,

To be very Honest, i am not well conversant with Rear Projection TVs.

I suggest that you try with someone else.
Again from my personal point of view, i am of the feeling that itcan be fixed, and pretty easily. There must be a "Service Mode" which can be accessed by the remove, and then the Convergence Settings / Adjustments can be corrected.

But, I shall make additional enquiries and and let you know.

Cheers

I have a red and blue shadow in my picture

IT sounds like it needs to be degaused.
Before checking this, check for speakers placed by the set. this will cause it too.

The best way to avoid this situation is
  1. Don't place unshielded speakers near the set.
  2. Don't move the set while it is turned on.

The coil that is used is about $50 and can sometimes be found at industrial electronics stores. It's called a degausing coil. most TVs have a version of this built in and mutiple power on/off/ons may fix it, but don't hold your breath...

The trick is to turn the coil on with it right up to the screen. Move the coil in a big circular motion parallel to the screen as you S-L-O-W-L-Y move away from the screen. when you are as far away as you can get [about ten feet] turn the coil off. Caution. KEEP HARD DRIVES, CREDIT CARDS, AND FLOPPY DRIVES AWAY from the energized coil!

Good luck

Ken
