Question about Canon PowerShot SD600 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Lens error, restart camera

I thought that my camera lens had frozen because my battery was out of juice and it just stayed open . So, I have a brand new battery and it still won't close. I keep getting the same error.
Any suggestions?

Clean the terminal contact of the battery,with a sandpaper,and the take a use toothbrush,then soak to a alcohol and brush the terminal. Then check it out, if it working , If not then that is the time you bring it to a authorized service center....

Hope this may help you ;

When I open my cam for capture it says LENS ERROR RESTART CAMERA then I restart it never works still the LENS ERROR RESTART CAMERA. what will i do?thanks

The possibility that your camera has encountered a fault in the auto focus mechanism is doubtful. Try to remove the battery and test the voltage. clean the terminals, look for dirt in the lens area - possible sand locked in- use a good air jet to clean.If the fault stays then it will be necessary to open the camera to probe into which may require experience. So have it checked at the canaon service centre for an estimate and decide. if you have a known friend get his help to open and look into this section for resetting the mechanism. if not the electronics could be defective. take a decision based on this opinion. Good day

Lens error; restart camera

Try one of these two fixes, if they dont work for you follow the link below for further troubleshooting.

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Fix #1: Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh set of batteries back in (preferably rechargeable NiMH 2500mah or better) and turn the camera on. If that didn't work, try pressing and holding the Function or OK button while turning the camera on.
Fix #2: If the camera's batteries ran down completely while the its lens was still open, the camera may show a lens error or not start properly when new batteries are installed. Remove the memory card and keep it removed, then install the new batteries. When you turn the camera on with the card removed it may come back to life, as this triggers a reset in some cameras. Error E30 (for older Canon's) means that you don't have a memory card installed, so turn it off, slip in the SD card and turn it on one last time

Lens stays open

The lens would have to be repaired or replaced. You'd be looking at a $95-$125 repair
