SOURCE: Focus is way off...screen is blurry????

is the monitor a flat screen? if so, you can try the autoadjust button, which is found by pressing the monitor menu button, and cycling through.

My monitor is a bit blurry. Not sure why

Try to see if your monitor has a menu button which will allow you to select an "Auto-focus" option within it's settings.

If not,
1. Go to your desktop
2. Start Menu
3. Control Panel
4. System and Security
5. Select Device Manager (Accept administrative rights)
6. Click the drop down button next to "Monitors"
7. Right-click and select "Update Driver Software"

If it is up-to-date, then do the same thing by clicking the drop-down button to the left of "Display Adapters."

If these options do not work, then you know that it is not an issue with your hardware, it is certainly an issue with your monitor (this means you may need to purchase a new one).

Please, let me know if this has helped you at all and feel free to leave any further comments that might help me further instruct you on how to fix this problem.

I will be following this problem to make sure you have solved the issue in which you are having.

HOW DO YOU MOVE THE ARROW KEY ONCE YOU ARE IN THE MENU?

You use the button with the <> arrows to move through the menu selections. Use the menu key to select the function you want to change.

Below is an excerpt from the Acer manual. The manual can be found at http://www.retrevo.com/support/Acer-X203H-Monitors-manual/id/23224bh549/t/2/

Screen shrunk

Try using the 'degauss' option of your monitor. It should be in the on screen menu, or possibly a reserved button for it. If not, you may have the options in your menu for the monitor to adjust the shape of the screen manually, you'll just have to go through the menues carefully using the various buttons on your monitor. If nothing fixes it, I would just replace the unit, as repairing it would likely cost more than buying a new one.

Slightly out of focus. Is there an (internal) adjustment, and if so, where?

over time the shadow mask picks up a magnetic charge that interferes with the focus of the electron beams which makes the image look fuzzy or out of focus...to fix this.. most monitors have a deguassing coil/button..look for a DEGAUSS button or in the menu selection on the monitor..Degaussing usually makes a "thunk" sound and the screen will go crazy for a moment ..

Acer x191w monitor background is moved to the right with about 2inches of black on left side.

Here is the fix;

1. Go to Screen Resolution
2. Select Acer Monitor
2. Find Advanced Settings and click
3. Find Screen Refresh Rate and change it to 75Hz
4. After the monitor flicks, changes it BACK TO 60Hz.

This fixed the problem for me. Hope it helps. :)
